Alt Bike Culture - Ever heard of "art bikes" sold for charity?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've seen chairs and guitars and, of course, all the large animals (cows, horses etc) that are custom painted/designed for decoration and sold for charity. This ever been done with bicycles before? I think that would be f*c%in cool as hell. A steel bike could be altered quite a bit and still be just as useful.
I've just been in the mood lately to completely redo some old bike and wonder if it's been done before for charity. Ever seen or heard anything?

I figured this is the most fitting forum to put this in, I dont know.
