I've been finding that when I accelerate very hard, or climb very hard, sometimes my feet come out of the pedals, which is a pain! Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

you could increase the tension required to unclip. On my look pedals you do this by adjusting an allen screw on the top of the pedal where the cleat goes in. All depends on your pedals though

Check your cleats. They may be worn out.

On SPD pedals (like the Look) tighten the allen screws a little. If your pedal is double-sided, be sure to tighten both screws evenly. Be sure to take that allen wrench with you and go for another ride to be sure you can unclip normally -- then give it power to see if you have tightened it enough

I thought that worn cleats fail to release properly, rather than release unanounced. Is that right ?

When my Frogs wore out (a piece chipped off) they released too easily.

Depends on the pedal system. Worn SPDs won't release. Worn Looks click out too easily.
First check the cleats.
The tighten the pedals a little bit

My cleats are pretty new, just bought them in June. Ok, my pedals have one allen wrench screw in the bottom, and on the side of that screw, has + on one side, and - on the other. I'm assuming that + increases the tension (don't laugh, I'm new to the sport!;) I'll have to try this when I get home. Thanks for all your replies

Most pedals take a 3 mm allen wrench. When I got my pedals I took the wrench and found a hill to test the adjustment. Start more loose and tighten gradually.
