Commuting - You know i busted my a** today clipless pedals and shoes new to me

I know everyone here has done it at least once and have an embarrassing story to so i might as well add mine to the mix I just purchased the Adidas - Minrett (06).

so i was out with my new pedals and shoes as happy as can be, when riding through my neighborhood where some kids where riding bikes, skating, so i was flying by... they always try to race me home on my commute and at a stop they noticed i was adjusting my pedals and heard that lovey CLICK when you finally engage ( a sound only known to me when i am getting dropped by roadies after a light:)) i was stoked they were stoked and we all rode together until we get to my house.... there is a curb i jump it every day but today with the clipless i figured it was a good time to learn to bunny hop with this new gear WRONG ....smacked the curb, no air, just leaned over and fell I couldn't get unclipped... then all i hear is laughter DAMN the kids thought it was so funny, i haven't been embarrassed in a long while but today i was laughed at bunch of kid 1/4 of my age
oh well now that is out of the way i guess i'm not due for another fall for awhile don't u think ???

You just jinxed yourself. You'll most likely fall over trying to unclip at a stop light next to a convertible filled with hot college girls.

Oh my God! Poor guy! That is the absolute worst-- it's funny how no matter what might be hurting immediately after the fall, it's always the pride that hurts the worst. My first time out with clipless, I did a nice slo-mo fall while stopped at a red light. A little 5 year old boy thought it was hysterical. I was so embarrassed that the i didn't even notice the bump on my hip and scrapes until I got home.

I hope this doesn't take you off the road! I was so freaked out by the pedals I didn't ride my road bike for a week!

I'm learning clipless also. I have a skinned knee right now from falling over during the weekend.

The good thing is that it's on a 'bent and therefore I don't fall very far at all. The bad thing is that I'm afraid when this happens that people blame it on the style of bike rather than the pedals and I'm a poor ambassador to 'bents when this happens.

And yes, isn't it great how your bike wrecks are an instant comedy routine?

Hmmm, just picturing that, it really would be quite hilarious to watch! Well, as long as the only thing that got bruised was your ego, it's all good. :)

I practiced for a few hrs when I started. I have not fallen yet *knocks on wood*
It's been something like 7 months since I converted to clipless.

You were supposed to say "I ment to do that" Like Pee Wee Herman did. Okay, maybe not.

I went clipless this year too, but haven't fallen yet. My secret is to pre pick which foot I will pull out first with. And having it on the lowest setting helps in emergency panic situations.

Did exactly that about 20 something years ago when I went clipless. Mortifying, but you get over it ;p

Hint Hint - if you stop and unclip only one foot - don't try to make a U-turn by paddling with that foot. If it's your left foot you end up falling on the derailur side and bending it. Dang.

I've had clipless shoes for about a month now, and I have plenty of bruises to prove it. I've falled 3 times - twice because I forgot about the shoes and once because my chain fell off and I couldn't get unclipped in time to get off the bike. Each time I was way more concerned with feeling stupid than the fact that I hurt myself.

How are you liking the shoes? They look great in that pic.
