I've been trying to take a step down in position at work for the past month. It was a decision that was long and hard to make, but I felt it best for the company. Rumor went around that a replacement for me had been hired. Although I felt relieved, I also felt that I had disappointed the person that had promoted me and believed in me.
The company big boss for my department (the one who promoted me) showed up at my location today - very surprising since he hardly comes in. He asked my manager and me to go with him. We ended up having lunch together. He then began to explain that this step down is a decision that is entirely up to me; they both said that they don't understand why I would want to do this. They also added that the new person hired was there to replace the problem employee that I had. He then said that he was not going to let me go anywhere (with a wink). I was offered a bonus that assistants don't usually get.
Upon leaving, my manager left my evaluation on our desk. It very nice....
The one comment he made on it was: "Stresses too much." :)
So........ What is YOUR good news today?

Your boss is right, Siu, you do Stress Too Much ;) The best news today was that today's my Friday, making it a two-day work-week, woohoo!
Oh yeah... Congrats! I think :)
Siu, I wouldn't be surprised if you stress too much.
Good news today? Hmm, lemme think. I dunno. I'll have to got back to you on that. It's been a rather *bleh* type of day.
Still waiting for my good news, but it's only 10:00 in the morning. If no other news materialises, I'll have to be content with the bowl of peaches, bananas, and yogurt I'm eating right now. Yummy.
i'm still vertical and above ground.

I only have to get through Friday at work and then I'm on vacation. And, I heard from the women I went out with recently. We're going out again this Tuesday. That's good news right?
I fired employee #1 and hired employee #2, and it took nothing more than a phone call. I survived another day on the mean streets and went home alive and healthy. Got a bunch done in the court house and only have about 15 entries or motions pending. Got the rest of my billing done and invoices delivered. Got some suprising advice and support from someone I thought didnt think Id make it this long in this business, now she thinks Im for real now LOL(I hired her husband). Seemed like a decent thursday edition of SSDD.

It's always good news just to have another day. The trick is to try and make each one special.

Ha! Okay. Bad news that leads to good news. I ordered a bike that was one of the last three available in my size. It came a week late, considering that for some reason, the truck it was on decided to take a fun adventure somewhere. Needless to say, the bike arrived badly damaged. Frame had gouges, scratches and the brake line was leaking - even the grips were messed up. Anyway, I had such an attitude about it that my boss said I can take an extra day off to go look for another one.

Once again, I say, "What the **** is wrong with people!?!" I mean, c'mon! If you have a job to do(whether you like it or not), you should do it to the best of your ability. So, if you're delivering goods, those goods should arrive in a timely manner, intact and undamaged. Or is it just me?[/rant]
I got a 93 in debate for summer school:)

Here's the part that made have an attitude. I can't get another one. I have to get an entirely different bike.

So, whatcha gettin'?
After sitting all last year without being run, my small boat motor (15 HP Mercury) started today on the second pull. Purred like a kitten once it warmed up. That's my good news for the day. Bad news is that the trailer lights aren't working...

Siu, good luck in getting the bike problem all sorted out...that's horrible. I think you should thwap those shipper guys in the head a few times with those escrima sticks...well either that or duct tape them to their own truck.

I'm not sure. Kept bouncing back (ha ha full suspension) between Kona, Santa Cruz, and Ellsworth. Ells is waay out of my league so forget that. I want an all mountain, not necessarily XC. I thought the Heckler would be nice. Any good news on an old design single pivot? (please?) :o
That bike has been such a saga. gggrrrr.
At least the work situation is warming up. :)

Not for us jerks that work Sat AND Sun too
On the brighter side of things, I got new tires for my road bike and noticed a huge difference in speed and acceleration. I had goosebumps when I started pushing it hard!
Also, my head doesn't feel as bad as it did the last couple of days after I crashed. I can actually see straight without big blurry streaks now. The headache is still there, but I'm almost normal!

MY good news is that I am still on vacation, it is a beautiful day in Austin, I have a lunch date lined up and am going to see Footloose at the Alamo with Mr. Sinus (Mystery Science theatre in the live version) tonight with the fam-o-lee. All is good!

Taking a step down is a commendable thing to do. I do not have this luxury. For me its a crawl to the top, but I like it. I switched careers 5 years ago from medicine to computers and its been a great move. I have reached my goals quickly to this point but still have a long way to go.

Sadly it does....high voltages (we deal with 5v-10,000v+ here on a daily basis), extremely flammable substances (alcohol, paint thinner, various other chemicals), sharp objects (box cutters), hot objects (solder and related equipment), and liquor is a really bad mix.
As good as a injury would be for calming my nerves (time off from work), it's just not a good enough idea yet....let's wait until things get worse :p
