My brother has a trek 4300, and about a few weeks ago the bottom bracket (i think that what it is, the bearing for the pedals???) started to make a loud grinding sound under light pressure. Now the pedal is continually comming loose.

Im pertty sure the bracket is broken, and am wondering if it can be replaced without any special tools???

If so could someone direct me to a cheap replacemnt bracket online that will fit without any hassle???

Torque your cranks up to spec or just tight them up as much as you can with the appropiate size allen key.

It's not broken. Torque the crap out of the cranks bolts like Chone said.

try just tighting your crankbolts first, but you have probaly stripped the square tapper inside and will have to replace your cranks.
