Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hi,
we are trying to improve our climbing ability. Manana we will do the Bear Notch ride in the Conway area of the White Mountains. It's a good tough ride.

I am trying to find rides that are like that. The problem around here is that there are several mountain rides, hundreds of hilly rides, and not very many that you can use to build up to the really tough ones.

I have come up with a ride I haven't done yet. It involves parking in Gorham NH, and riding up to Pinkham Notch twice in a day. I'm not ready for that, but I hope I will be in a few weeks.

I have some nice rides I have come up with, if anyone wants to swap
by email.

this could have gone better. I got a packet in the mail of info for a tour I will
be doing. I have two months to get in shape, I'm a little behind schedule.

Nothing like a little panic to motivate.

You might like to see my writeup for a self-supported tour I did in the area:

Hi Brian,
I had seen that before, you have to be one heck of a rider. We did a
very pretty ride today, we parked in South Hiram Maine, rode up Rte 160
and then Center Conway Rd to Conway. Had a sandwich in Conway, and then headed down Rte 153 and then a shortcut through Freedom Maine.

That is pretty country, dotted with lakes, and a seemingly endless supply of hills. It's a little under 50 miles if you do it a a loop.
