I haven't been on my road bike since late November so I'm wondering what my goal for base miles should be before I start my training for season.....

i'd say that 400-500 miles should do it. 150 miles for each of the 1st 3 months of the year is fine/
It depends how long you have until your season starts. When's your first important event?

Velo- season starts mid March
Mid March...that's a tough one. I'd say you have to get at least 4 weeks of good mileage in starting NOW. I'd say try for between 150-250 per week. Then, you can start working some specialization in towards the 4th week, right up to your 1st priority race.
