Someone has offered me their1992 Rocky Mountain Hammer MTB. It has never been used and looks fine. The frame is made out of Reynolds 725 and from what I read on the MTB Review website it sounds like the frame is indestructible, but there were some problems with the sun tour components. I am thinking of putting road tires on it and racks and using it as a city bike and for touring gravel roads.

Has anyone any experience with this bike or have any idea what I should offer?

Much Thanks.

In all honesty at the age I wouldn't give more than 100$ and thats pushing it. Suntour parts are not only old but well old...That would make a great ss or tour bike but isn't super tough compared to todays bikes. :)

Lowball him to start and get an idea of what he is looking for :)

Is it really "BRAND NEW" or "Like" brand new? Some retro guys would be drooling over that bike. How much is he asking for it?

If it's in good shape, it'll be a great commuter!

Thanks guys, yeah it's new condition as the person who owns it was unable to use it due to a physical ailment and it has sat in his barn since he bought it. Not sure if he would take $100 CDN for it. I figure that it has a few years of ridding left in it and I could try and replace parts as they wear out or as I up-grade my good MTB.
Thanks

I'd say go for it. What that in USD? About $60.00 USD? Heck, if it's in the condition you claim, it'd be worth it!
