I've got to set foot in Georgia or Louisiana some summer day: I can't believe humidity there can be worse than it is here in Kansas City, but I keep hearing it is.

Let me try to illustrate. Our relative humidity is VERY often 98-100%. Even if the temperature is only say, 80F, you feel sweaty as soon as you step outside. If the temperature is in the 90s, which it usually is in the summer, you feel like towels in the dryer after about 20 minutes, piping hot but still soggy wet.
I travel occasionally in my job. Several times I have been at meetings in other parts of the country where people are complaining about the humidity at around 70-80% when I am thinking how nice and dry it feels.
The last couple of years we have actually had more relatively dry days than usual. Of course, that was partly because our rainfall was WAY below normal so the farmers in the area were paying in spades for our relative comfort.
So check the relative humidity in KC on what you consider a humid day then let's compare notes. :)
When I stepped out the door this morning well before daylight it was warm and muggy, but the built in breeze on the bike makes things a little better.

Is the humidity in the States something you guys ever get used to...it's always bloody damp over here, even when the sun has come out to play!!! :(

Hopefully, I'll never get used to it!

Well said Rainman. I remember visiting in Boston one summer for a wedding and staying the in the groom's family's Bed & Breakfast. I came down for breakfast the first morning wearing jeans and was assured I would die by the end of the day if I didn't change into shorts right away as it was going to be "hot today". I asked how hot and was advised it would be a sweltering 80 degrees and that it would definitely be a big item on the evening news. I laughed my *** off all day....while looking for a store to buy a sweater in!!:rolleyes:

Isn't synergy what Jem kept in her ear-ring? Not that I ever watched girl cartoons as a kid or perhaps even though Jem might be kinda sexy.
