Mountain Biking - My current DH Project bike!!!

Alright, so I bought a faith 6 months ago and am trying to make it an "ultimate DH/FR rig". Right now, I put 2005/6 elcaminos on for brakes, double track rims, saint ront derailer, stinger chain guide, odi lock on grips, revox valving in spv chamber for swinger shock, 2005 shiver w/ direct mount stem. Soon to come: red seat clamp, x9 shifters/rear derailer, 2.7 tires front and back.

I also have a hardtail freeride/dj project that has been sidelined due to lack of funds (actually in a complete and ridable state, but not near to where I want it to be at).

I will post pics when the shiver is mounted and I come back from vacation. Please leave comments/suggestions/opinions (good or bad).

Why it is cheap effective and allows for dual chaingring I believe. Thats pretty good stuff.

I was going to get the e thirteen drs, but it was 110 more than the stinger, I already had a nice bash gaurd, and I had a broken rim. Unfortunatly, the place I freeride has uphills (most people walk their 45 pound rigs but I prefer to pedal), so I need the granny gear. And guess what, Havent droped a chain yet!

The 4 way is what came with the bike. I'm thinking about a Dhx 5.0, air or coil, once the funds come, and also a roco (but i'm not sure if that would be an upgrade). I might just get a ti coil. So far it has worked fine for me though.

why go with dual chainring, if you're going down hill or hitting some freeride, get an E.13 SRS and a chainring like a 36T, kind of big and kind fo small to balance the two ride types out. I would think with a rig like that you're going to be much happier with one chain ring

a) shock and fork aren't the same thing and
b) he has a swing rear shock.

right now I have a 22 and 32t front "sprocket". I'm going to put a 34 instead of the 32, and eventually, a pc90 sram cassett. As I said before, I have to do some uphill where I ride freeride, so its either a granny gear or walk it. Anyways, my fork is going to be herein 6 days. It got delayed :mad: ! I'll get pics up soon (I hope:rolleyes: )

if it works for him/his bike/his ridng (as in, it keeps him from dropping his chain ) then why go to another system, with more parts and complications? yeah, the e-13 stuff is great, and performs well. but it's overkill in many cases.

fwiw, i'm using a heim guide (similar to the stinger) paired with a 22/32/bashguard setup on my big bike, and i've had no difficulties with that setup. if it works, why go to something more complicated?

to the OP: if you plan on riding it uphill to earn your turns, good on ya, and it'll be nice to keep the two rings up front for that. good luck! climbing uphill with a shiver on the front is gonna' hurt. tip: the stinger, much like the heim guide, works a little better than stock with a roller from an MRP LRP chain device. another ten bucks or so for one of those rollers, but works much better than the stock ones. and it's still cheaper than buying another chainguide setup alltogether.

though this is the 04 model year listings, i'd bet good money that the 05 is the same weight. other than the colors/graphics, it doesn't appear as if anything was changed from 04 to 05.

Wow, that's going to be a fuuun build. :D Post up pics when you're done. ;) Also, if possible, post up a minireview of the chainguide as I just checked it out and it seems to be around the 30-40 dollar mark and I'm not willing to spend 130 euros on an E13 DRS.

i never said it wasn't. yeah, it's a simple design.

but a bashring and plain guide like a stinger, a heim, or a mrp-lrp is even more simple in design and use.
again, if the simpler option works, why go for something more complex, with more parts?

e-13 makes great stuff, but that doesn't mean it's right for everyone, their bikes, and their riding.

The mini review for the stinger: I have used a an ethirteen srs, mrp DH (orange rollers w/ innerand outewr bash plate), truvative box guide and stinger.

The stinger is buy far my favorite. It is way lighter than any of the above, way cheaper too. It is also the quietist (I hate having noisy rollers/guides, just a pet peeve, ands this is silent). It also provides 0 rolling/peddling resistance (none that me and my friends can tell anyways). I love the low profile design, and the main reason why I bought it, it can support dual rings. I have yet to drop a chain or get it caught. Even on thr truvative box guide and ethirteen srs, the chain will occasionally get caught in the top guide, which was a bitc@ to get unstuck. It was also redicuously easy to install.
