Mountain Biking - ic engine powered bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
i have been looking for plans or any already built petrol powered bikes
so far i have found none that look any good, some have engines over the back wheel and others with the engine in the front wheel
i have started work on a powered bike and just wanted to know if any one could give me any help, has any plans or has built a powered bike
thanks:)
How about one of these?

Although not a reciprocating engine, it is an internal combustion engine. It looks to be a fairly nice and clean design.
Petrol powered bikes? That's a pretty generic term....

etc etc etc
You're defeating the purpose I think. Why not just get a mo-ped or a motorcycle. Why would you want to make a bicycle with a motor anyway? If you don't want to pedal, why have a bike?

It scores big bonus points for the flame as well.

to save on fuel costs, get a girlfriend and a tandem, then let her do all the pedaling. THAT's the way to roll
Moped and Motorcycle requires a license I believe.
Just ride a horse. Great power and can go fast. But watch out for the overpasses! =)

mopeds I don;t believe require a license as long as it's pedal start

Well.. I donno about all state laws on the moped thing... but in cali, I saw someone with a moped similar (in size and look) like this and it has a license plate on it.

Probably up to a certain size or weight on the moped then you need a license? And I do think you need the ride it on the street instead of sidewalks, because you cant ride gas-powered vehicals on walking areas.
Just pay a some $10 fee and get a license because a police ticket would be at least a few times more expensive. AND WEAR A HELMET TOO!

California (and most states I think) allow you to drive mopeds/scooters/vespas/gas powered bicycles without a liscence if the engine displacement is under 50cc 's.
There's a lot of 2-stroke kits you can buy off of ebay (really cheap chinese motors) like this:

As of 2005 they are no longer legal to import due to emissions laws and I imagine being so cheap they won't last very long (or work at all) so buyer beware.
I like the Bionx system for both weight (15lbs) and good modularity. Still having trouble parting with $1700- for the L-Ion version.
Here is a great place to buy a petro-solution: Five Flags Cycles (http://www.fiveflagsmotorbikes.com/BicycleEnginesGasoline.htm)
Bought the electric shopping trike for the wife from them. Best price anywhere.

My part of Texas says if it runs on anything other than human power (if you have a soylent green motor you are good to go) it has to have tags and a license.
Ive only seen electric mods for bikes.

as long as you're not too heavy or your chain saw is really beefy, you'll be fine

well the brake pads lasted longer than the engine. it overheated 1 to many times and is to pircy to fix. i got some pictures and am now working on putting a sinclair c5 motor on instead. it was very fun hit over 30mph and i did not get caught once. hehe.
ok the pictures wont upload. but believe me it is cool
