Thought I'd put everything together and snap a photo, I count ten rides total, yeah too many bicycles. I at least parted out 4 cheap bicycles I merely bought/obtained from trash for parts before I snapped that photo. Theres still another 20" banana seat bicycle in the yard somewhere (that dont really count since I dont ride it, too small, but not trash worthy!), and 2 frames in the house too good to throw away, even if I never wind up using em.

Don't know why I'm posting this, hope there are others with this many bicycles so I dont feel as crazy sometimes!

You think you have too much?

(Excuse the little Lowrider Company machine in the shed pic. Haven't found any other place to put it.)

This does not include the "Junk" stored out under a tarp outside, or the two indoor bikes...

Hell, you guys make me feel downright deprived having only three road bikes hanging on the garage wall, and one mountain bike (about to hit Craigslist before the night is over) in the corner. And the wife's probably buying me a restorable Gitane Tour de France for my birthday.

You can see my fleet here: http://tinyurl.com/rokjv. Of course, that doesn't include the four or five bikes to fix up and sell (mostly purchased for that reason), the '53 Raleigh Sports frameset to turn into something interesting, and several of my wife's bikes. Yup, it's out of control.

I have over 20 complete, and a few frames at present. The garage is full, there are 5 or so on the patio, there's a track bike in the lounge being packed, three bikes in the conservatory/dining room being stripped. It's outta hand, but in a good way. On the other hand the combined capital in them is very low, barring the ones I'm dismantling/shipping.....

Oh, and I have to pick up an Elswick Hopper frame tomorrow. Look for that to appear on Catch of the Day......

I feel better now...

On the positive side I only have 6 bikes.

1973/74 Sears 10 speed (received rom a friend, the original owner)
1989 Cannondale Tourer (tweaked rear triangle)
Raleigh MT-500 (being rebuilt as a comfort bike)
1988 Centurion Iran Man Master
Motobecane mixte franken-bike
2003 Giant Sedona DX

I hope to add a Schwinn Le Tour IV, and at that time probably eliminate the Cannondale from the fleet

I do find myself scanning garage sales, and thrft stores, but nothing has shown up worth my time. On yesterdays ride I did see an old Ross mtb at a garage sale, and of course had to stop and look... after all I saw bike wheels. :D I also passed several piles of stuff along the cub in one community (must be an upcoming neighborhood trash pickup), but didn't see anything but a couple of beat up 20" wheels.

Earlier in the ride, I also saw an old bike in the ditch that looks partially stripped and abandoned, but passed it up... It is a pink woman's frame and has drop bars and an ashtabula crank. I looked no further... But, I have been tempted to go pick it up a few times since then, just in case... I suspet I'll drive by at some point, but I hope by then that someone else haspicked it up... I don't have the room. ;)

OK, so do I show my wife this thread or not?
Not counting the 3 kids' bikes, I have only 4 right now:
1976 Austro Daimler Ultima
1974 Schwinn Suburban
1977(?) Raleigh Grand Prix
1977(?) Raleigh Grand Prix (parts bike or future project)
{I'm looking for a front q-r axle for the Raleigh GP. It is slightly bent.**
And I find myself looking for more...

Well, I don't feel so bad after see some pics. Any complaints I get about the number of bikes I have I will be directing to this thread. I have two usually in the garage (MTBs) and the rest of my personal rides in the basement (4 bikes). My bike work shop is set up in the basement, but I need to clean the basement so I can get some more room. I bump into bikes when working on one in the stand. I have the remnants of about 15 bikes in the basement. I have fixed up and sold 4 bikes in the last month. I have one more for sale now. But, I am going to look at two bikes (my size!!!) and some parts on Monday that I hopefully buy at a decent price. If it happens details will be posted to the Catch of the Day thread.

I sold 2 this week and have one left to build but it is a mess. I also probably have the parts to put together two more sellers on top of that. 6 personal, 2 in pieces and the girlfriend has 3 plus a frame. My girlfriend and I live in a very small 2 bdrm. apt. but it is in a house and I have appropriated the shed:D .

No photos as yet, but here is the list:

1980 World 'Sports' ladies model
1980 Centurion LeMans mixte
1980 Schwinn Le Tour (this one belongs to Mr. East Hill)
1987 Nishiki Prestige
1987 Centurion Dave Scott Ironman Expert
2005 Specialized Dolce Elite

There's also two mountain bikes (one Trek, one Diamondback), and a retro Schwinn cruiser.

I have tried to persuade Mr. East Hill that he does not really need that pickup occupying valuable space in the garage anymore. Fortunately, there are two rooms off the back of the garage. One used to be the former owner's home office. It has heating, electricity, a telephone jack, and my bike work stand. The other room holds the hot water heater and some bikes.

Looking at my list, I can tell I need to mix it up a bit with a few different years, eh?

Reading this thread and decided to take a tour of my house and shed to see what bicycles I actually had. 12 Italian racing bikes and 14 Australian/British racing bikes with 5 Aust. roadsters. Ive also got drawers and rafters chock-a-block with parts.

I tried to give them all a run last weekend (to keep the bearings moving) but I 'ran out of puff' and time well before they all hit the tarmac.

This is getting crazy; I may need to talk to a 'professional'!

Not silly actually. I have a bikes for a number of purposes. I have one that I sometimes use for grocery shopping, one I ride on group rides, one that I ride on longer rides, a mountain bike, one that goes on the trainer, one that gets ridden on cruddy days (beater) and one or two others that I like and are fun. They all get ridden, just some more than others.

OK.. The results of three months trying to thin the herd has left me with three more bikes than I had in the message in July.

I have given up two, and gained five. The Motobecane mixte and 1989 Cannondale touring bike are gone. I have gained a 1955 Corvette, a 1960 Jaguar, a 1974 Raleigh Lady's Sports, a blue Schwinn Varsity and a 1980ish Nishiki Custom Sport...

The Nishiki, Raleigh Sports and Varsity are available to a good home. Just pick them up or pay for shipping.

BTW I have tried to contact the seller of a Centurion Ironman Expert for sale on Philly's CL... I may actually decide against that since I already have the same bike one year newer and one level up in components...

Here is a link to pics of some of my bikes. About 20 of them. Some British Roadsters and some vintage Canadian bikes. Unique and rare British made bikes. Missing is 1951 Rudge Ulster Sports and a 1952 Humber Sports with twin blade forks, both being restored this winter. http://s102.photobucket.com/albums/m104/oldy57/

It is always bad when you type out the complete list. Well, here is my fleet currently.

76' Schwinn Paramount P14 Track, 73' Schwinn Paramount P13, 80' Viner Track, 86' Schwinn Peloton fixed gear, late 60s? Falcon frame former fixie, Surly Karate Monkey Single Speed MTB, Van Dessel Buzz Bomb fixed MTB, Van Dessel Buzz Bomb full suspension geared 29er, 86 Schwinn Letour frame (fixed gear project), and a 95' Schwinn Moab Elite MTB (my bike from college). The previous list is only the bikes that are my riders or will be riders. Here is the list of repair/flippers/parts donors I have: 2 Schwinn Le Tours, tiny Shogun Selectra, Nashbar steel bike, Raliegh Supercourse TT frame, 2 Schwinn High Plains MTB, Panasonic DX2000, Motobecane Sportour, and a Fuji Monterey.

I was bored at work the other day and wrote down all of the bikes/frame I bought in the last 12 months. I bought 28 in the last 12 months. I sold 7 bikes this summer. Right now there are two bikes hanging from the garage. The rest of the bikes are in the basement with my bike workshop. I need to really clean the basement up and get my bikes and shop in a better organization. The bikes are spread around the basement.

>>1947 Schwinn Henderson
1950's Murray Aeroline<<

What can you say about these ones? I never heard of a schwinn "henderson", sounds interesting, I take it the Aeroline is a "clunker"?

Yes its true you don't need more than a few bikes, but what can you do? Sometimes you just can't help yourself. I'd like to lessen my load a lil, but some of them I could never let go.. not until they're pried from my dead hands!

No, both are reasonably decent balloon-tire machines. One has been sloppily repainted (Schwinn), the other, partially repainted (white is original, red is a cheap repaint over teal). I don't care much for either of the bikes, however, the Schwinn Henderson is the bike that started all this. I bought the Aeroline from an elderly fellow by the name of George Titus who would repair bikes from his house for $30 - he has since passed on.

Henderson was one of Schwinn's re-badge brands - same as B.F. Goodrich, for instance.

Here's a photo of the '47 (with a '49 - that I was in the process of building for a friend - in the foreground):

http://jaysmarine.com/1949Henderson_4.jpg

And here is the Murray Aeroline (which, by my best guess, is mid '50s - say '54-'57). I have the original rear wheel - coasterbrake is shot, never got around to swapping it out.

When I got it:

After some various small revisions to bring it closer to original specs:

Hmmmm. Currently:

A Gazelle Trim Tropy, used for long fast road rides
A Falcon Westminster with rust, mismatched wheels, torn seat, which is my lockup/non stealable bike
A Raleigh Royal tourer, which is my main grocery hauling/commuting/getting around bike
A Nigel Dean 80's road frame that's most of the way to be built up as a street fixed gear
An EG Bates track bike, which will eventually be ridden on the track
A narsty old department store double suspension MTB, modified with motorcycle handlebars, just for fun.
A Raleigh Quasar 80's 501 road bike, being converted to a modern interpretation on the classic english sit up and beg bike theme, but single speed rather than 3 speed.
An HR Bates cantiflex bike, because I really wanted one of those unusual English frames of the 50's.
A Mercian mixte I'm doing up for my girlfriend
A Holdsworth I'm doing up for my son
A chinese built road bike that I'm redoing in a kinda muscle bike style.
Two Moultons that I haven't decided what to do with.

There are also lots that are on their way out to sell. I do give away bikes though, 4 in the last 6 months.

I have sold four bikes in the last month, and I still cannot walk into my garage yet. Well, sold two for great prices, and two went in a charity auction yesterday. Bought in the last year? Close to 10 I would imagine?
I have slowed down lately. Once I had bikes parked outside under the carport, I realized it was time to thin the herd a bit. I'm now starting to up the quality of my herd with a few vintage roadies, and some nice newer bikes. Mostly what I had before were no name lowbuck cruisers with a lot of money poured into them. Time for some respectable names, hehe. Yeah I have a few old ratty Schwinns, and a couple of very nice custom Schwinns, a few off brands, etc etc. All told I currently am hovering around 30 bikes, with about 20 being ridable with notice. Pedal install, air up tires, 20 minutes digging it out, etc etc, lol!~!,,,,BD

This was summer of 2003 I believe. The problem is much worse now, lol! No, wait....I finished the orange stretch cruiser in April 04, so I guess it was Summer 04....
