My '04 Axis has always had a noisy, crunchy bottom bracket when I'm hoofing it up a big hill with lots of resistance and standing up in the saddle. At least it that's where the sound seems to be coming from. I swapped out the cranks to see if they were the culprit but it made no difference. Has anyone else had this issue with their Axis? If I unpack the bottom bracket, what should I be looking for as the noise maker?
Thanks a lot,
Scotch

My axis makes noise too, but it has not always been that way. It just started a couple months ago. I do not make big repairs on my bike so I took it to my mechanic. He tightend it up with the bolts that go through the cranks and that helped. The next time I had a tune up he repacked it and said that will help and it did but it will need to be replaced before too long. BTW, I know this guy and totally trust his judgement.
