I came into some Katrina stuff recently. One item is wheelset-White industry hubs with 217 rims. They are pretty smooth considering they spent 4 weeks underwater, but I'm wondering if these hubs are rebuildable-can you change the bearings-and it is worth doing? They are pretty nice wheels.
There is a little oil hole on one side of the hubs; it probably leads to the bearings, so they must not be sealed bearings. How can I get the hub apart and get at the bearings. Thanks,Charlie
PS They are really nice, true wheels-very light also.I really want to save them.

I have never worked on them, but other mechanics (very good ones) that I trust, hated the thought of having to do a repair on them.

Thanks guys.I got the front apart. The bearing are sealed-more or less-and replaceable 6903 rs.One is seized, the other isn't.Downside is they probably cost $10 each from a bearing supply house.Heck,I 'll fix it anyway.I feel for the wheel.Thanks.Charlie
