Mountain Biking - camcorders and helmet cams

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

My buddy has got a Tony hawk helmet cam, so far it has been a piece of crap. It shuts off by its self all the time and the video and sound are terrible.
I would like to get something a little better. We don't do stunts, alot of the footage I want to take would be on the bike.
I thought a cheap miniDV cam, but it would probably be too big to use, I guess the best solution is a actual helmet cam feeding to a camcorder?
Anyone got any ideas.

Thanks Gastro, by the way, I love your "one less horse" designation. In my forest, shawnee, the equines outnumber bikers 10,000 to 1. Can't quite figure out what is fun about riding a horse around in the woods.
