I'm thinking about buying either the 2006 Fisher Mako or the 2005 GT Avalanche 3.0. I understand that bikes in this price range pretty much come with the same lower-level components. My question is in regard to the quality of the frames. Are these good quality hardtail frames? (probably made in the same factory) The riding style will be pavement/light trail.
Thanks.

I'd go with the Gt because all of the Gt's I've tried are amazingly easy to bunnyhop on and have decent handling.

Normally I would say Fisher, but since the Mako doesn't have the famous Genesis Geometry or front sus, I say go for the GT.
