so after selling a whole bunch of stuff and saying goodbye to some old hobbies, i managed to get the money for my Marin Bolinas Ridge! here's a pic of my new baby:

I think the comment comes from the fact that the bars are so much higher than the saddle. It is a MTB but does it fit you? Is the saddle height in the photo where you ride? To me it looks like you got a bike that is much too big but it is hard to tell from the dark photo.
It will do fine on dirt, its similar to my Marin and trust me it likes dirt. It even likes some rocks... and some roots... and the occasional deer jumping in front of you.

i ride a little higher than that, and sorry about the darkness of the picture, the construction of my garage is really weird so lighting was a bit difficult
