"Intravenous Agnostic" by the Manic Street Preachers. It's on the "Know Your Enemy" CD.
Anything heavy and hard. Fast paced works best. If the song goes high and low it works best for intervals as you can try to match the rythm
Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene.
It's all instrumental and has a variety of themes to it, to keep the listening experience interesting.
I keep a beater boom box in the garage for entertainment while on my Nordic Trak. Hope this helps.
It depends on what you like.
I actually like a lot of variety- that's probably because I teach a lot of indoor cycling classes, so I constantly have to put together a cd for each class every week.
Here are some music selections from different genres I like:
Riverdance Sountrack- try Anacondia and the Riverdance Theme
Afrocelt Sound System- Whirl-y-wheel, Release, Lover of Light, Riding the Waves
Dario G- Sunchyme, Peaches
Creed- (anything)
Living Colour- Cult of Personality
Seal- Kissed by a Rose, Fly Like an Eagle, Crazy, Don't Cry
Charlie's Angels soundtrack
Prodigy- Firestarter, Smack My B*tch Up
Moby- Bodyrock, Porcelain
Paul Hardcastle- Feel It
Safri Dao- Played Alive (The Bongo Song), Sweet Freedom
Apollo 440- (anything)
Juno Reactor- Conga Fury,
Gus Gus- Believe
Sasha and Digweed (anything)
The Crystal Method (anything)
Orbital (anything)
Dr. Didg- Sun of Tut, Serotonality, Bouncy
Underworld (anything, especially from the Trainspotting soundtrack)
LTJ Bukim (I'll have to get the name of the album from home- he is an awesome dj with some good tracks)
John Tesh (Canta Domine, Tour de France soundtrack- the official music of the 1988 Tour de France and it's good.... scary good....)
Sting- Desert Rose, Every Little Thing She Does is Magic
Quindon Carver- When Doves Cry (awesome remake from the Baz Luhrmann soundtrack- Something for Everybody)
Janet Jackson- Son of A Gun, Scream
Jennifer Lopez- Let's Get Loud, Play
Da Brat- What Chu Like
Brandy- Full Moon
Faith Evans- You Gets No Love
Mary J. Blige- No More Drama, You Remind Me, Real Love
Madonna- Ray of Light, Music, Fever, Like a Prayer
Van Halen- Hot for Teacher
Guns N' Roses- Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine
Queen- We are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody
Rush- Tom Sawyer, Limelight, Fly by Night
Rolling Stones- Sympathy for the Devil
Led Zepplin- Whole Lotta Love, Dazed and Confused (ok, just about anything... too many to list)
Yes- Owner of a Lonely Heart, Roundabout, America
Steely Dan- Peg
Pink Floyd- the entire album of Dark Side of the Moon
Jimi Hendrix- The Wind Cries Mary, Purple Haze, Are You Experienced, Foxy Lady
Fatboy Slim- Praise You, Gangster Tripping, Rockafeller Skank, Going Out of My Head (Michael Jackson remake), Funk Soul Brother (I think that's what it's called),
Dirty Vegas- Days Go By (if you're not tired of hearing it yet)
Faithless- God is a DJ
Luscious Jackson- Roses Fade, Naked Eye
Moodswings- Moodswings Overture, Spiritual High (State of Independence)
Chicane- anything (I like "Saltwater" and "Don't Give Up" a lot)
Stevie Wonder- As
Jamiroquai- Deeper Underground, Cosmic Girl, Emergency on Planet Earth, Space Cowboy, Canned Heat, Virtual Insanity, Revolution 1993, Too Young to Die, Didgin' Out
Koffee Brown- After the Party
(my personal favorite.... :D )
Ok, that should be enough to hold anyone over for weeks and weeks of riding. That was the stuff that came off the top of my head. I'm sure you can find these in the popular downloads section. The only caveat- just make sure the music fits the mood of what you're trying to do. For instance, I wouldn't be playing Faith Evans if I were working on speed intervals. It's too slow. And I wouldn't play Hot for Teacher for hills- it's too fast. You really want to find music that reflects the objective of the exercise.
Koffee Brown
uh....wow...impressive. :)
Koffee,
Jamiraquoi? didn't know he was popular here,
haven't really heard any since I stopped listening
to european music.
a few others:
Wamdu project - queen of my castle (great video too!)
Al DiMeola - Race with the Devil on Spanish highway. good
for fast workouts. . .
Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien.
Seeds - Pushing too hard (thanks Velocipedio, I had forgotten
this gem).
Focus - hocus pokus (or is it hocus pokus - focus?)
Steve Kahn - arrows
Tim Weissberg - forget album name, but the one showing
him riding a COLNAGO (yeah he's a rider!).
Stones Can't you hear me knockin? (all of sticky fingers is good).
Marty
Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve - interesting use of rhythms
Tiny Tim -- "Tiptoe Through The Tulips."
Anything by Lawrence Welk that features accordianist Myron Florian.
Anything by the U.S. Marine Band, 8th and I, Washington, DC.
Screamin' Jay Hawkins -- "I put a spell on you!" :D
I like hip hop / RnB / rap.
Deja Vu all over again.
Every Day Should be a Holiday - The Dandy Warhols

Definitely. Spineshank is awesome. I saw Meshuggah suggested too. All good bands to train to. As some can tell, I like heavy music to train to also. Even while in a car you get an adrenaline rush while listening to it. While training, heavy music provides a fast pace and that adrenaline rush can be transferred into more intense training (A year or two ago I used to run every morning, and bands like these seemed to help push me to go just a bit further). Here's some song-specific suggestions:
Spineshank
1. Athsmatic
2. Synthetic
In Flames
1. Cloud Connected
2. Reroute to Remain
And of course one by good ol' Metallica
1. It's Electric
Dark Tranquillity
1. Damage Done
2. Monochromatic Stains
Now getting more Alternative\Punkish
The Offspring
1. Nitro (Youth Energy)
2. All I Want
Foo Fighters-All My Life
The Vines-Get Free
Sabbath-War Pigs
-Middi-zon
Update to the song list-
I had to do a movie theme ride for this week, and I debuted the profile today- the class liked it... had some good beats, so I'll add these songs on:
Sir Mix-A-Lot- I like Big Butts (from the Charlie's Angels soundtrack)
Kool and the Gang- Jungle Boogie (from Pulp Fiction)
Afrocelt Sound System- Release ( from Stigmata)
Supermarket - Reinhold Heil (from Run Lola, Run)
Apollo 440- Charlie's Angels (from Charlie's Angels)
John Williams- Chariots of Fire
Madonna- Die Another Day (from James Bond)
Mission Impossible theme- get the album from MI 2, if possible
A. Morissette- Uninvited (from City of Angels)
Underworld- Born Slippy (from Trainspotting)
Brand New Heavies- Worlds Keep Spinning (from The Truth About Cats and Dogs)
Suzanne Vega- Caramel (from The Truth About Cats and Dogs)
The last song is for cooldown- they really did like it.... I kinda enjoyed it myself, although it was a b*tch putting together a one-size-fits-all profile based on road riding with the music this time around.
As a P.S., I should have mentioned the Run Lola Run soundtrack in my earlier post- it's one of the best albums I've ever enjoyed cycling to, indoors or outdoors. Every song on there is great.
Koffee
Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Queen of the stoneage
Progressive House.
DJ Encore
DJ Sammy
Alice DJ
Orbital
JFK (Whiplash Bad Boy Remix. Highly recommend this to get you hyped)
Christopher Lawrence
Oakenfold
Anything by Misistry of Sound
Anything Gatecrasher
John Digweed
atb
Tall Paul
Aurora
BT
Just to name a few.
Portent - I second Foo and Queens of the Stoneage. Wicked bands.
I don't listen to music to train... mainly because I don't train. ;)
However, if I was to train, and listen to music, My Goddess by The Exies would get me going!
if you need some good chillout music for winter spinning, try anything from Thievery Corporation, my favorite french techno group. Also most Oakenfold mixes or CDs are great for warming up and high intensity workouts.
Emporer - In the nightside eclipse , Anthems to the Welkin at dusk.
Satyricon
Dark Throne
Children of Bodom
Dimmu Borgir
Venom
Iron Maiden - Powerslave , Somewhere in time
Blind Guardian
Rhapsody
Virgin Steele
Kreator
I like to listen to everything..one of my personal favorites is Incubus. All of their music is great. John Mayer is awesome too, but maybe not for training. :)
If you're in an Americana mood:
Although you might not necessarily think of the Grateful Dead as good training music, try
"Not Fade Away/Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad"
"Johnny B. Goode"
"Turn On Your Love Light"
slayer, punk, anything hard or with a beat, so techno is good too.
Weezer-almost anything especially 'Hash Pipe' no song is better for getting your legs moving than that one
lol Koffee.. sir mix a lot is funny.. good tunes
amazingly enough, for the past while i don't put any music on.. don't know why but silence is truly a peaceful place for me to be in right now.
however, the few times when i am in my car.. some good metal(Segression..etc) helps me get where i have to go..pretty fast :)
I just bought a CD by an awesome band out of Melbourne by the name of Gersey. It's not really music to train to, but I thought I'd give it a plug anyway. Oh yeah, in case I haven't mentioned it yet, there's always the Manics!
"Sing, sing, sing" by Benny Goodman. Swing with lots of loud drums and nasty brass. :)
Pat Benetar - Get Nervous, HeartBreaker, We Live for Love
REO Speedwagon - Keep Pushin' On, Riding the Storm Out
Rush - the whole Power Windows album. My favorite for training, particularly the songs Marathon and Grand Designs. Also One Little Victory, Roll the Bones

Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
Raspberries - Go All the Way
Thin Lizzy - The Boys are Back in Town, Cowboy Song
Triumph - Fight the Good Fight, Magic Power
Gin Blossoms - the album New Miserable Experience

REM - Shiny Happy People
Foreigner - Rev on the Red Line, The Modern Day
Bob Seger - The Fire Inside, Like a Rock, Get Out of Denver
Bare Naked Ladies - It's All Been Done
Bruce Hornsby - Every Little Kiss
Madonna - Dress You Up
Garth Brooks - Standing Outside the Fire, We Shall be Free
Iron Maiden - Run to the Hills
Journey - Wheel in the Sky
Judas Priest - Hell Bent for Leather, Turbo Lover
Katrina and the Waves - Walking on Sunshine
Melissa Etheridge - Come to my Window
No Doubt - Hella Good, Ex-Girlfriend, Just a Girl
Quarterflash - Find Another Fool
Styx - Crystal Ball, Half-Penny, Blue Colar Man,Queen of Spades
R.B. Greaves - Take a Letter Maria
Trick Pony - Just What I Do
Tim McGraw - Where the Green Grass Grows
Stephen Lynch - Kill a Kitten. I know, it's awful, but the song rocks.
Phantom of the Opera, London Cast recording, full version.
Hmmm, I guess that's all for now.
:D
I've recently found my way back to Pat Benetar- that's some good stuff, man.
I love "Heartbreaker".
Now, that Madonna, on the other hand.... it's gotta go!
;)
Koffee
At least it's not Cyndi Lauper......:p
The dreaded "doof doof" music :o - anything that makes my right foot heavy in the car automatically graduates onto the riding/training compilations - including but not limited to........
Almost anything from the Wild compilations (Australia)
Basement Jaxx
Daft Punk
Fatboy Slim
Gerling
Ian Van Dahl
Jamiroquai
Keith Sweat
Klubbheads
Nick Skitz
Paul Oakenfield
PPK
Run DMC
Scooter
Sash
Smash n Grab

:D

I love every one of your selections. Keep 'em coming!

Pain is merely weakness leaving the body - and music helps me through that process. Bass is my friend.
I listen mostly to Roxette, and some other stuff too. There's a song called "Gas Chamber" which was in the Serial Mom movie soundtrack which cracks me up.
now wouldn't it make sense to ride to music that soothed you and reduced your heart rate? i'm kind of serious. although i just rode (trainer) to beastie boys!!
I was listening to Manowar' song 'Number One' off the album 'Louder than hell' the other day.
It's the perfect racers song.
It's perfect:D Should be the theme song for the Tour de France;)
emenem, pennywise, snoopdog(cool-down only) sean paul, janes addiction, anything hard and agro keeps me movin on the trainer!
Hello all,
I recently came across a group called Bond. It's considered classical crossover. Basically it's classical music set to techno.
Has a pretty quick tempo and kept my interest for awhile. I'm classical trained, while most people who are would turn their noses up to this kind of music, I actually enjoyed it.
They have two albums : Shine and Born. I personally prefer the newer album: Shine.
