Tom is currently living in El Paso, but he's not from Texas originally (born in LA). I saw him live in NYC in the 80s. I've got most of the Tom Russell Band CDs from that era, he's a great songwriter. Gallo Del Cielo is one of my favorite songs, check the Joe Ely version on Letter to Laredo.
