For my money, XT or X9 are the way to go. Especially next time you rip your rear derailleur off.

If you have X9 you hve probably experienced this more than once! ive never seen RD's self implode like that X9 Rubbish. the shifters also feel cheap and nasty /rant

IMHO for XC you cant beat shimano rapid rise with dual control. i was very sus of it when i 1st heard about it but riding it is just sublime. for all the bad press it copped, there must have been a lot of HUXRZ that thought they would give it a go. either that or the campy elite finally found somthing else to nail on shimano.

for downhill however, somthing like traditional rapid fire or SRAM would probably be the way to go.

Id be surprised if the XTR is any mroe than it currently is. they are trying to get back market share, and they cant do that with higher prices.

I love how so many of the comments on the Ladis threads are "it must be a false positive"...."we need to wait for the B sample" etc but Landis himself has said that he doesn't hold much hope on thee B sample showing any different :D

My aggregate cholestrol level has been >7.5mmol/l since I was a teenager. So has my dad's, and he's nearly 80. We're just very efficient at both absorbing and making the stuff. The thing is that the balance of LDL to HDL is decent. When my doctor asks if I've had a lipid count recently I can only laugh and ask him to get over it.

Yeah it's not necessarily a bad thing. But when yer dads heart blows itself to pieces at 39 then there's some bad signs there. But yeah like you say it's all about the ratios. I had a reading of 5.8 a couple of years ago and my doctor went through the roof. Mainly cause that was mostly made up of the mad stuff.

Must have oversimplified things I guess :p

SNAP! Top backhander jocko!

But really, there's a ****load of things going on during the warmup that Hoggy put in cyclingnews.

The first 15 minutes at E1 gets the working muscles preloaded with oxygenated blood and puts a little bit of heat into them. The E2 work is done in a comfortable sub AT range that triggers hormones ....

What's these E things? Just different levels of effort within the warmup. That's very interesting though. Thanks for that. Any idea of the time spent in each of the E's?

I just knew I could find some humor and restraint here in TAT land,
of course I knew that you miscreants would be taking the piss outta the
poor seppo's (note the clever way I've distanced myself from them).
as for the landis as golden boy etc. jaysus would you look at the state of
US sport? football (not the US or Aussie rules) puhleez, the fact that we
even got invited to the world cup is a wonder to me, and we did so well.
Rugby? there are a few scrums here in the states
but they are mostly populated by embassy workers around washington dc.
Cricket? thats a bug. . .
We've got to hang onto something and well what else is there ?

Personally, I'm sick of the extreme attitudes, "he couldn't have because. . ." and
the "they all do you . . . he's guilty hang em." can't people just discuss it rationally?
that's my rant, and the fact that a really good tour is tainted, whether he's guilty or not.

for what it's worth Flandis doesn't believe the B sample will be any different.

For every case of T/E ratio positive CAS has ruled in favor of the cyclist, that 100%
which makes the test pretty useless.
still I love the sport, warts and all (to quote one Atmo aka e-RICHIE).

My bikes Full XT (XTR rear)
Same..and like you (I think) I got the older style cranks. Since my chainrings are goonnneee I figured it was just as cheap to upgrade to the external BB from T7.

Why am I caught in the spiral of wanting the XTR cranks, even though they are only 90g lighter. $200 more exxy, with proprietary bcd....I STILL WANT THEM!!!!

Man i'm a sadsac...(no offence badsac!)

HDTVKSS
07-27-06, 07:12 PM
no, My XT is 06 with the external bearing BB.

if you want the 05/06 XTR that badly then why not get it? worst comes to worst you can probably Ebay it or sell them on farkin.net and get back the difference. its a horn bit of kit and id have them if it wasnt for the chain ring.

:: edit:: phantom has X0 shifters for 249 and X0 rear der for 239 which i think is stupidly cheap? they did have a good deal on XTR cranks for a while as well.

I was thinking that fury on his face crossing the line was frightening. It sure makes sense.
Doesn't sound like he'll get banned necessarily.
From cyclingnews-
'Some riders can prove that they have an elevated Testosterone/Epitestosterone (T:E) level, if they undergo an endocrine test performed by a credible doctor. Landis said he will use Spanish doctor Luis Hernández, who has helped other riders prove a high T:E count. "In hundreds of cases, no one's ever lost one," Landis told SI.

In 1999, Colombian rider Santiago Botero was able to prove his elevated testosterone levels (over four times the allowed limit) were natural. His doctor at the time was Kelme's Dr Eufemiano Fuentes'

so whats worse somone that tests positive and takes their ban like a man, or somone who tests positive then gets off on a loophole?

either way, As far as im concerned, if your over the limit, your over the limit, regardless of the means.

Odin posted Hoggies dribble on page 41, post #1018. The E's are explained at the end of the quoted section.

Hitchy also chimed in on post #1006 with a similar scenario, but using a different E scale (and there are plenty of variants out there).

Well, morally I'd take option A, but sponsors and anyone who relies on the rider finacially would probably take option B.

So if anyone in Sydney's at a loss for what to do this evening, there's a bunch of bands on at the Mandarin Club in town. SEWEL SIDER, UNIT, EL DUENDE, BLACKSHAW and LEFT ARM OVER.
We're on at 9. If anyone wants to come, PM me for a cheaper ticket.
On again at Tailor's on Central next Thursday.

And the big one Friday the 11th August at Ruby Rabbit. That'd be the pick of the litter.

Is the MasterSound the 6 or (very rare) 12string version? Colour? Action?

As for the JCM, I want one but don't have anywhere to put it. I'm teaching my son to be a rock god ATM and pretty soo he's going to need a bit more cred than the Chinese 10W amp!

http://www.somethingabout.net/mastersound/index.html - thats pretty much it. I bought les paul dial clear white dial covers to put on it but never got around to it. its a 6 string, circa 2000 i think

the JCM is head only, but i hava a quad (Eminar) that im going to throw in with it. both head and quad have seen road use so are in " used" condition but both work v well. head is moded with 2 extra tubes ( not output tubes, the little ones) + an effects loop.

I also have a valvestate 1X12 100W combo, but ill probably hold onto that.

Japanes Model 5, cost me $900 in 1989.

One night I dropped it in its soft case when I was pissed, and smashed the head in half. The only thing holding it on was the locking nut. I gave it to a guy who said he'd fix it and love it, and it got pinched from the repair guy!

ah cmon, it had a Floyd Rose, you could have just used those little bridge tuners!

i have an 80's jap strat with locking tremolo at my parents place in a million pieces that im rubbing back to natural to clear coat and use.

HDTVKSS
07-27-06, 10:31 PM
that one had a Kahler on it.

Repair costs, and general stuff, like fret dressing costs, are rediculous. You're better off doing it all yourself, I reckon. What's a fret dress cost these days? $120? Stoopid.

That Charvel was probably worth about $350, and I was quoted $250 to get it fixed! I stripped the paint off my Jackson and put a scratch plate on it, just to make it look less "80s" :)

mine has a Kahler as well. not a bad piece of kit. ugh, speaking of looking 80's, the reason i pulled my strat down was that its this lovley shade of aqua green, no scratch plate. i think its a metal model. sounds good, looks like the incredible hulk.
