Australia - New Zealand - The Aussie thread. . . part cinq.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

You are not wrong. That was tough :( You should hear my bb its sqweeling. It seems to be getting louder and especially after I did seated hill repeats the other night. Its a brand new campy bb and ive had it serviced (pulledout and reinstalled). Cracked frame at the bb?
You're a mad bastard doing hill repeats today! Is the noise a squeal or a creak? Creaking could be frame or might be pedal or something too. Have a good look around the BB to check for cracks.
Have you got campy on a Giant? Not too common I would have thought.

Mate, if you've got the means to buy a top end frame, buy a top end frame. :)
I don't understand all these dudes who bang on about people having sweet bikes but being sh#t riders so they don't deserve it or whatever. I mean, I'll still have a giggle at fully kitted out dudes who can't ride, just coz it looks somewhat incongrous, but at the end of the day I'm just glad to see them out there having a go & enjoying themsleves. Better than pumping cash into a friggin pokie machine or something:rolleyes:

Mate the only thing it was - was out of order!!!! lol I went from 25C Melb to 40C/100%H in KL to 0C in London....a right royal merry-go-round it was!!!
I did that a few years ago leaving Perth in the middle of Summer for a couple of weeks in Milan (where it was snowing). Milan is much colder than London in the Winter I can tell you (more humidity).

excnetsixe, Campagnolo BB's suck. Honestly.
Suspect one of the cups might need tightening.

Could be. Happened to me a while back.
Did I mention I'm not a fan of Campagnolo BB's?:D

It may of been you Nev that said...main things are groupset and wheels...frame not so super important??yeah, but that's probably just me. Like Will Chemy intimated, you don't have to be Fangio to buy a Ferrari, but I don't reckon anyone really needs a $5000 frame, unless they're racing up big mountains and want something uber light (sub 1kg), in which case expensive carbon is the only option. I'd rather get a sub $1000 aluminium frame, weighing around 1300g to 1500g -- which might be stiffer than a 900g carbon frame -- and spend the rest on wheels.

Hey I bought top of the range campy groupset and have been riding around town on a bike that squeels like a girl - i aint that impressed either!!! :p :p :mad:that is WHY you need at LEAST 2 bikes: you need a spare :)
Forecast is 36C for Perth on Xmas day isn't it? It's always bloody hot there on Xmas day.
Supposed to be 0C here on the 25th. Hopefully it will snow.
If not, I have plenty to share.

A light Christmassy dusting will be fine. Just enough to make everything more picturesque.

Was Cycling Central any good? I missed it.
I know we should be grateful for any cycling we get on TV, but, as I whinged about all last summer, I'd rather a presenter who may be less articulate but has 1000000000 times the cred than Tooly-Maris, like Philby O'Anderson
By the way, has anyone got any goss' on the Anderson thing?
What's his missus like?

Cycling Central was ok, not much cycling as such, they covered the Cyclist of the Year awards and some "what's new" stuff.
Reckon you'd get pretty sick of an inarticulate presenter pretty quickly, regardless of the depth of their knowledge. What we need is someone articulate who knows a lot about cycling - wonder how Robbie would do in that role? Isn't he about to retire to sunny Queensland or sumfink?

Work's over (I did an hour this morning,) shopping's done, presents wrapped, beer and wine drunk (actually still working on that one) and the cat feeder's been booked for Christmas day.
Merry Christmas everyone! Give it heaps (food and wine) and ride if you can find the time and inclination.
Merry Christmas  (yet to even start my shopping!!! :o :o :o )
You're a glutton for punishment, then! I reckon the shops are going to be absolutely impossible this weekend.
Fortunately, I spent all day yesterday taking care of Christmas shopping (including food) so can now relax....maybe.

Relaxation starts on Boxing Day. Tomorrow is the missus' birthday; Christmas Eve - visiting friends and head out of town to the in-laws; Christmas Day has been organised by the various chooks with military precision, and I can only hope the combative brothers' in-law don't drink enough to lose their inhibitions; Boxing Day - hit the surf and come home (in either order).
Followed by 12 days of surf, riding, gardening, reading, walking, drinking, eating and one day waving a marshal's flag for the Tauranga Half Ironman (http://www.halfironman.co.nz/).
Search online. Find what I want. Call store to check if in stock. Ask to hold. Drive. Pick up. Leave.
Its all a military type insertion and extraction routine ;)
Merry Christmas Matagi :D
You left out "spend x hours trying to find parking space" - that kind of puts a kink in the military precision.:D
Merry Christmas to you too! :)
ive spent time in europe...ive seen the 'light' in terms of 'creative' parking lol :p :p :p :p
Ah yes, never put your handbrake on when parking in Paris - it really mucks up the "bump your way back and forth out of this parking spot" routine.:D

Maybe Nev or some of the guys over in bizzaro world might know?he's busy making his own humans:

How long?
He is renovating isnt he? Might have escaped for a few weeks of R&R? Matagi will know.
I know he's been renovating and I know he's been busy trying to finish a bunch of frames before Christmas. He hasn't been too active on the forums in recent times.
And, of course as Nev pointed out he has been busy with - ummm - other activities.
Makin' little tigers?
Yeah, that too.:D

I know a few people who've gorn back to normal tooth brushes, but I reckon electric brushes
are the best thing since stretch denim (I'll keep using that gag till I get enough laughs -- I've only had one)
Like Jerry said when he brang an electric brush for Elaine: "they're not just better, they're like TEN TIMES better!!"

Too much red wine = black poo.
Lovely.
There used to be a Jamaican/Creole restaurant in Carlton, which I went to once with some friends. My mate ate the spiciest thing on the menu, smothered in hot sauce. It was that hot he drank 6 stubbies with the meal (doesn't normally drink beer) and had to have a cold shower the next morning to cool down his bunghole.:D
