The ones that never cease to amaze me Daniel are the AFL footy players, though out in the boondocks I don't see them all the time like Melbourne people do. Watching the telly you don't get any true idea how friggin big some of them are until you see them at a match or in public. Sht there are some big suckers playing.

Too right.
Was all set to go to see Ronnie with a couple of gym buddies....until they pulled the pin and left me high and dry.
Search for RC on YouTube...some excellent stuff on there, inc. his 2475lb leg press for reps!!

St Kilda has had more than its fair share of weirdos and nutcases over the years IMO.
No aspersions being cast at certain BF posters of course!

I've said this before, but we used to play at The Tunnel on Sunday nights, and me and me mate used to stand behind the giants when they were at the bar and try to imagine out marking them. :p Impossible!!
I expected Spider Burton to be huge -- and he was -- but I was really surprised at how huge Ritcho and Scott Turner were! Dunstall and Mick Martyn aren't super tall.

For sure the Fish was huge... I worked with an older guy (in his 50's) who was a big unit for his age - prob 6'4" & solid - and remember him coming back from lunch one day & saying how Fish had stood behind him in the line at the sandwich shop and that he "now knew what most other people felt like when he stood behind them".
EDIT: Just saw that RC clip.....effen insane!!!

HEY ED...
you know a local rider named Steve Martin? He's about your age; little bloke, and says he races a lot of track. He got all smashed up on the 1/20 4 years ago, got a helicopter ride and was on A Current Affair.

I know the name, but I don;t know him. He's from Blackburn?
Speaking of 1 in 20....was on it years ago with Iacuone. He dropped 53 x 15 and got to Sassafras in 13 minutes dead from The Basin milk bar.
I considered taking up tennis.

Paging ecnetsixe......hey Grunta (I bet no-one's ever called you that :)), I got back from a 2 night 'tour' (what a w@nk of Lakes Entrance at 6:30am. I've never ever seen bushfire smoke and raining ash like that in my life. I tokk my old Paconi down there and rode around a bit, but the fire was further than I thought.
By the way, that's the first time I've spent more than a few hours down there, and call me a snob, but it's no Portsea. Don't think I'll be rushing back. :)

I can't believe there's a bike shop in Lakes Entrance! It's a bit of a museum, with a brand new 8sp steel Moser which must be 8 to 10 years old, and have you seen that ancient Olmo with the antique dual-rod derailleur? Like this

Mrs. Expat got bashed up tongiht at work. She took off after a guy that stole some DVDs, and he turned around and took a swing at her. She's ok, broken finger and some bruising. But she got in a few good shots herself.

Dick head thief meets angry Mrs Expat. Good on her for having a go!
One of my mates has a 198? Eddy Merckx steel roadie with 7sp indexed Dura Ace (downtube of course) that he bought new from a bike shop about 18 months ago. It had been hanging up in the shop for 20+ years and still has the original chain/cassette etc in mint condition. He rides it occasionally on sunny days in his Molteni (sp?) gear. The rims are so wide that 25mm tyres look narrow on it.
He turned himself in looking a bit haggard. I told her I was a bit disappointed. He's got no footprints on his face.

My uncle used to call Lakes Entrance 'the Gold Coast for Broadmeadows'.:D
Lakes is ok if you're got kids coz its got the lake, surf beach, retaurants and there's kids stuff for them to do. It's a bit of a PITA with the bike though because there aren't to many training loops and the place is so friggin busy during holiday periods. I reckon that view from the top of the hill on the Melbourne side of Lakes looking west back down the lakes is one of the nicest views in Victora.

Mosers are crap IMO.:p All the ones I've seen look like clown bikes.
Warren Meade owns the shop there - hes a nice bloke. I used to race with him in Gippsland, though he's a bit older than me. Haven't seen him for years. Warren does the old school bike reviews in 'Ride' magazine. I'll have to check his shop and all the old gear one day, though don't get down to Lakes to often. Its normally Inverloch or Paynesville if we are heading to the lakes or beach.

She ended up with the guys jacket, and his mobile. She was ok until the cops were playing with the phone and found a pic on it of him holding a gun. She starts the new job search next week.

I rode arounnd the back up to the winery, which wasn't too bad a ride.
A guy who runs one of the band booking angencies has a big house on the lake -- also nice.

Did you get out to Metung? Totally different to Lakes Entrance. Real village type feel. Farking super expensive real estate too.
You're right about the hills. You have to climb out of Lakes Entrance no matter which way you go. Couple of steep ballbiters on the most direct road between Lakes and Metung and there's a bastid of a one coming out of Nowa Nowa on the highway.
