Can't stand the stuff, never have ..... no idea why. Same with WeetBix.
D'ya really reckon that was grumpy? You've led a sheltered life.:p
I'm noted as being one of if not the most grumpy person in a office of 300+ people. It takes a lot of work and skill to reach that level of accomplishment.:)

Vegemite is best scooped straight from a large jar on two or three fingers and eaten without accompaniement.
Now be good children and watch Three Kings. It will be good for you.
Bugger that! I'm watching "The Taming of the Shrew" with one eye and the fire up the hill with the other.
As for Vegemite, used to live off the stuff until I tried Marmite on a trip to NZ - now I've turned to the Dark Side and only eat Marmite (although never scooped straight from the jar  )

Incinerating it and burying it somewhere where it can't hurt anyone is the only sensible thing to do with that stuff. You been on the paleo websites, too? :)

We have some Belgian friends who have raw mince on bread for breakfast and have the absolute gall to bag vegemite.
It's called Filet Americain and I won't be trying it in a hurry.
The problem with vegemite is that it goes off so quickly. The missus would buy some from Woolies on the weekend, and when I'd open the jar midweek, it would be all brown and smell terrible. So I just chucked it in the bin.
Vegemite - made from beer (or yeast at least) so its gotta be good!
Why people don't like a black, salty, yeasty paste that needs special prep to be edible (to my tastes at least - heat + butter absolutely necessary) i'll never know...
The funniest thing i've ever seen is an american exchange student trying vege - gave it to her my way on toast, and told her it was 'breakfast paste'. She loved it. Then she got the guts to 'try' vegemite, so i let her do it her way - half inch thick on a piece of bread. You can all imagine the face she pulled. Vomburp, followed by about three packets of tic tacs to get the taste of vege out of her mouth.
Why do people like a blackish sweet carbonated drink that tastes vaguely of fake lemon? (that's coke btw)

re that snippet on Cycling Central; does anyone reckon Bayley could've smashed McEwen by much more?
classic1
01-21-07, 10:27 PM
Never saw it, but Bayley should be able to beat him by 10 lengths. McEwen could probably ride low-mid 11's on a good day for a flying 200. Bayley can do low 10's. Even with crap form he can ride a 10.5 or 10.6.

It was obviously just a bit of showbiz, but Bayley came from behind to beat him by only half a bike length

Get a Brooks.
why a brooks? they jsut look like as much of a nut cracker as any other ive used.
is ive lsot a fair bit of weight, is it possible that looser knicks are causing my probs? there still quite tight round the leg, but are looser in the waste. is there a brand anyone can recomend?

Dunno about the Brooks, that was a bit of a facetious comment. It is a pretty hard saddle (MrM has one) but it moulds itself to your sit bones, which is what makes it so comfortable.
However, you can't expect to leave your nuts resting on the saddle without issues, so maybe it is a knicks thing. If they are loose around the waist, then they'll be slipping down a bit and not providing the necessary "lift" to keep things out of harm's way. As far as brands go, I'm a bit of a Ground Effect pimp.:p They are made of slightly heavier lycra, so are less "stretchy" than some of the other brands, which might be what you need. So I guess you could go somewhere with a decent clothing range (Melbourne! /jk) and try a few pairs concentrating on the ones made of heavier fabric.
What does Matagi know about nuts and seats?

I have a Fizik arione on my road bike (only because it came with the bike) & find it to be okay.
I also got a Specialized saddle with a split in the middle (can't remember the model) for the MTB (coz it was the best that the only bike shop open that day in Echuca) that has been surprisingly comfortable.

Go get your arse measured in a shop that sells Specialized saddles with their gel doodad you sit on. That'll tell you how wide your sit bones are and then you can pick the right width saddle.
In the end though you'll have to work out whether a flat or curved profile saddle works best for you and pick something that fits the mould so to speak. It's all a bit trial and error getting a good saddle.

i had an arione and thats where the problems began. my fizik on my cannondale rush hurt me as well. i have a specialised on the MTB + road now.
i did a gel fitup as suggested. its comfortable, bar the nut issue.
im thinking its knicks, well hopin as at least thats an easyish fix.
the wierd this is i can look between my legs and the saddle and there is no contact point that i can see with my boys....wierd.

That's where you're wrong. Any guy will tell you that if you even think about brushing against them the wrong way, we'll cringe and possibly get the watery eye.

ever seen what comes out of the blunt end of a new born baby? Vegemite!
LOL, too right ! Bottle it.

Brooks saddles are more likely to be wide enough and hard enough that your weight is on your sit bones, meaning the boys won't touch the saddle. However, if you have more than 4 inches of drop from saddle to bars you're gonna struggle with a brooks, or most normal looking saddles for that matter.

The swift is that much - you can get a pro for 150 (i got 2 for that much, but i can't let you have them) or even a B17 for under 100 and cut the 'wings' off. Specialised saddles come in multiple widths. Robbie's saddle - the selle san marco - is wide too i think.
Ebay US is cheaper than here btw.

Regal i think. His one is a 'racing replica' though - pretty white one...

Regals are super comfortable IMO, even though those rivets would make you think otherwise.
HDT, you might want to look at so-called "women's" saddles if you think it could be a question of width, 'coz they're made slightly wider to accommodate the wider female pelvis. I have a Selle Italia Lady Gel Flow I'm not using if you want to try it just as a "suck it and see" thing (PM me over on CF or send me an email)
Might not be a saddle contact issue, either, could be more of a "squashed between the thighs" thing when you're pedalling, in which case you need to look at that side of things when deciding on a saddle (and possibly hoist 'em high)

I only just noticed that the San Marcos have different width saddles.
There's a big ad in the latet Ride mag
Has the new Ride come out already? Or are you referring to the one with Flandis on the cover?

Great saddles. Really hard to get now. Theyve stopped making them. Got a turbomatic 4 from Geoffrey Butler in the UK for my dad a couple of months ago - about $80 delivered.
HDT I'll give you the Concor off my race bike if it'll stop you whinging. And that's saying a lot because not even a nude swedish hitchhiker with huge tits and a desire to massage would get to sit on the Concor
FFS saddles ain't rocket science: if it hurts then it's probably never gonna stop hurting, so you take it back to the LBS and get a different one to try until you find true love.
Either that or you take the pain of an irritated perenium and learn to manual the last bits of pee out of the urethra. There's no gurantee that that will make your saddle feel any better, but you might be able to work out how to save embarrassment.
Oh man, Jock had the cranky pants on!

I have been telling my English colleagues that things can only get better from here. I cannot imagine that it can possibly get any worse.
Looking for a saddle for my mtb for my tour of NZ in a couple of months. Saw a Brooks for the first time in real life on the weekend. Bludy thing was so hard I almost broke my thumb on it pressing it. No way I'm touring on one of those. What else is good for touring with? No point asking in the touring forums. They're sponsored by brooks so they're biased.
BTW, my handlbars and saddle height are about even.

Kiwis were a bit unlucky IMO last night. If they had of held a couple of catches or had some decisions go their way they might have got over the line.
And if Australia had of stopped lollygaging they might have beat them by 150.

How hard or shoft a saddle is has little bearing on how comfortable you will find it. It is how it fits your body that is the key thing.
If you want a nice touring saddle then you really should consider the Brooks - there's a reason it is so popular on the long distance cycling forums.
MrM has a Brooks B17 narrow and loves it. It was comfortable straight out of the box, and being leather it does soften and mould to your shape. He used it on the GVBR and had no problems at all. If you get one, then follow the instructions that Brooks include with the saddle and don't listen to any silly old wives tales about how to condition your saddle.
