I am going to pirate a nice Shimano Deore triple group from an old Specialized bike I have. It's going on a retro cross bike project. The new frame is a standard 700C road frame that was respaced to 130mm in the rear. The present cup & ball BB is standard Shimano 122mm. Is this too wide for a road bike? It worked on the old 130mm spaced MTB.

The spindle has to match the cranks. No problem if you keep everything mated. The only worry comes when replacing one without the other, or making a singlespeed or something.

I was wondering about that. Now all I need is some 7 speed Shimano barcons.
