Quick Hammer gel questions....

Do you store your open jugs in the fridge?

If you have leftover gel in your flask, do you just keep in there until your next use, do you store in the fridge?

Sugar concentrates seem to inhibit bacterial growth and probably fungal growth as well.

I usually don't have my large refill bottle long enough to find out what would happen over several months, but I've never kept them (or honey) in the 'frig'.

it might ferment into prison-liquor if you leave it alone too long and too warm.

I accidently did that once. Sonic strawberry-limeade leftovers in the waterbottle. Yuck!

I'm not so sure about sugar concentrates inhibiting bacterial growth. It would seem to be a good medium actually. Anyway, I always store opened bottle in fridge and any unused gel in the flask the same way.

Honey does not spoil. I heard that they found edible honey all the way from the times of ancient Egypt once. As long as it's above a certain concentration, it's ok, I think. Regardless of this fact, I would store gel in the fridge or freezer just for my peace of mind.

an opened bottle should last a month outside the fridge. i go thru this stuff fast i've never thought about it. fridge it if you think it'll spoil.

After a ride, make yourself a smoothie, using the open jug as part of the smoothie concoction. Throw in some Acai, pomegranate juice, bananas, and you're on your way. Roaches love open jugs of gel and stuff.
