Mountain Biking - bike that will fit me

I am a 6'4 200 pound 17 year old looking for a downhilll/freeride rig that will fit me. i have found almost none that will fit

Any of the lg/xl frames should work. Have you cheched out the large Kona Stinky Nine or Stinky Primo?
An 19" frame would work for you as a freeride bike since you want it to be a little more nimble. If you will be doing more dh then I would say get a 20" or 21" frame.

I got a few ideas for you WNCbiker, I'm 2" shorter and ten pounds lighter and I ride a 2002 Giant AC1, its a 19" frame, 6" rear travel, hayes hydro, raceface cranks, and a bunch more.

Giant makes a bunch of big bikes, The AC1 and AC2 and very good DH/Freeride bikes. The highest I've dropped on mine is a fifteen foot drop(which was very freaky) and been doing 5' to 10' foot jumps constantly. A bunch of us set up a jump and were getting 8' air high and almost 20' distance down a hill. I've put my AC1 threw alot and it hasn't talked back yet.

Ellsworth makes a Joker and a Joker SL (anodized vs. un-anodized) which is 7" rear travel(new this year). My Best-friend has one of these, I've seen him in action on the thing its crazy. This guy is "not right in the head" he has done many amazing things on it and only broken his main pivot bolt on it(no frame damage).

check either company out they make good bikes and will take the thrashing that us big guys can dish out!!

I like giant seeing that I currently ride one so I will have to check that out. can they be pedaled up hill easily?

I agree with all of you...I'm 6'2" and if you're going to be doing more DH the giant DH comp large fits great! I also have an AC in the 18.5 size...fit's pretty nice too...could use a little extra in the seat post area for all around riding...but other than that...top tube lenght and everything is great! The Kona's are really nice too! Check out Foes too...if you have the cash...their large would fit pretty well too.

Well the first time I got on my AC1 it felt like a tank, but after like two days I was totaly used to it, it pedals up hill pretty good, not as fast as people on hardtails but if your a burly guy than its no problem.

is the ac1 considered a free ride bike?

All depends on what you consider freeride...ugg, not gonna start that topic again...ha ha. Ya it's considerd a freeride bike, I use mine for more all around riding, like 6foot drops and some real aggresive trail riding.....now a 15ft drop on it...scary! I give 2wheel warrior a big up for that! The AC will take pretty much anything you through at it.....and as much as people ***** about Rock shox, I have it on both ends of the bike(AC2)...and not a problem yet! The AC isn't light by anymeans...so she's a little slow uphill, but if you aren't racin XC does it really matter?

Please keep in mind dh and freeride rigs fit small. At 6'4 there are tonnes of frames that suit your size. You just have to realize it shouldn't/can't fit like a xc bike. I can't think of a single bike I don't fit or that doesn't make a frame that fits and I am 6'5 and 250 :)

Actually DH frames should fit a bit bigger than a freeride frame. If you're to crunched on a DH frame you wont be able to pedal/handle (you feel like the bike is making your work for it, not it work for you) it as well....freeride you need more clearance to toss the bike around for bigger hits, and things of that nature. Look at most of the Pro DHr's and see how their bikes fit them!

I used to ride a medium DH frame and it was to small for me....and it held me back alot! I've since gone to a large and man I'm ready to whoop some arss! LOL . I ride a smaller frame(medium) in my freeride frame so that I can hit drops much easier...less bike to have to toss around.

Well that didn't come out exactly how it should have...but it's the best I could do with typing...man it's hard to type exactly what I'm thinking..uggg...ha ha ha.
