Hi, I too am new to cycling. Went with my sister when she went bike shopping. They let me ride around the parking lot, and I was hooked. I had forgotten how much fun it is! Of course, then I had to have a bike. Had decided that a Trek 7000 would best suit my needs for a beginner. I plan to ride the local paved bike trail, and around the neighborhood. I went to my bike shop to buy one and they were all sold out. Said they didn't plan to get any more in for a while, until the new '07 models arrive:(
Well, as luck would have it, a friend of mine who has been riding for a while had just gotten a new road bike, and had an extra bike. So, I ended buying her older bike, a Trek 700. (saved alot on money!)
I really like the bike so far. I've been practicing and I'm sure I am quite a sight to behold, huffing and puffing with a purple face & a space alien looking helmet.
Does anyone else have a Trek 700 model and do they like it? Best I can tell, I think mine is a 94 model.
It has a steel frame, but I don't mind. As long as I can lift it onto my bike carrier, I figure it will just help my legs get stronger, faster. (if I don't keel over....)
Glad to meet everyone,

Rednorm

Welcome,

Where in Ohio are you located. I live in California now but still have family there. I went back and did the TOSRV back in may. It rained and was windy, but I had a blast.
