Hi,

I am a newbie to recumbents and am looking for advice on a Sun E-Z Sport CX vs a Burley Koosah. I saw a thread back in 2004 but wanted to ask for the comparison anew. I am 42 and 185 lbs and have ridden a road bike for exercise in 1 hour sessions a few days a week over the last 15 years during the warm weather here in Michigan. I have a shoulder injury which causes pain when leaning over and tried a Sun E-Z Sport recumbent and was really impressed with how comfortable it was to ride. I don't have a Burley dealer close by but have read that the Burley Koosah is a good competitor to the Sun E-Z Sport and hoping to get some opinions on chosing between the two. Thanks!

Wife rides the Easy and loves it, did her first century on it last month. I've ridden it a little and can understand why she likes it. No experience with the Burley.

I have the Koosay and love it, but I have had NO experience with the E-Z Sport! I think the Koosay has a longer wheel base and the Sport might be a bit lighter. Probably both are good buys for entry level bikes.

One thing you should look at is the difference between seat height and bottom bracket height. Smaller differences means you tend to lean back more, while a larger difference gives a more vertical seating posture. Then you have to ride both with this in mind. Vettical/reclining seat position is a matter of personal preference. I prefer the upright position of the EZ Sport. You may not. However, when test riding, remember that after you own it, you'll be spending hours in the seat. Get the right one for you. bk

Thanks for the advice and I rode a Sun E-Z sport for an hour yesterday and really liked it. I adjusted the seat position several times during the ride and ended up liking it best with the seat as vertical as it would go so your comments about the seat position was very helpful. It looks like the Koosah has a more reclined seat back. I can't find a local dealer who has a Koosah so have basically decided to go with an E-Z sport. I am planning to order the AX version which has an aluminum frame and upgraded components over the CX.

I have the EZ Sport AX and have put over 3000 mies on it. The more I ride and work on it, the more I like it. It's actually a fairly nice piece of equipment, although a little heavy. But all LWB's are heavy. The Ti Rush is 28lbs and $5500+. So enyoy your bike and disregard the opinions of others who talk down about them. bk
