I am doing a race this saturday as a novice.

the race:

the circuit:

I will be doing 2 laps of it.

Last monday I went on a ride in that hilly area, and i averaged 36.6kph with my slow trek 520. I am borowing a bike that fits me nicely with old dura-ace stuff on it. I did a small ride with it, and what a difference. so I hope ill go much faster up the hills, since its a much lighter bike.... and the wheels, OMG they keep on spinning!!!

two weeks a go i also did my first time trial :

I am tied in 30th place that day. I beat another member of the same club(WQW) by 57 seconds and he had a cervelo soloist carbon (drool). But he didnn't have aero bars.

Have fun in that "hilly" race.

So many Rocky Mountain dwellers are getting a chuckle at a 320m peak being named "King Mountain" right now...

I'd rather do a long climb than let the rolling hills take their toll...

If the Cat 5 racing here is any indication, learn to descend like a maniac and you'll definitely be helped. At 197lbs my ability and desire to go really fast on a descent helps me make up what I lose on the climbs...

Uhhh, yeah.... King mountain is named after William Lyon Mackenzie King, 10th Prime Minister of Canada:

The name *does* sound really funny for a hill, though. :)
