everytime you see him on tv, he has some grey thing around the back of his neck -- anyone know what it is? something related to the radios?

The other Disco guys have them too. They look like some kind of radio device, but I'm not sure.

Radio earpiece would be guess one.
I-pod guess two.
Or in his case, anti-climbing buzzer to make him slower and throw away Le Tour in the mountains device?

The part on his throat is a 'throat mic', activated by speaking or by pressing a button first.

He's part Borg.
Governor device to restrict speed.
Wife's remote control shock device to keep him away from podium girls. Working well at this point.

It's called a Throat Microphone, or a Transdermal Neck Microphone, although calling it the latter is usually for speech loss applications. It picks up vibrations of the vocal-cords through the neck muscle and skin. It cuts out backgound noise that a regular mic would pick up.
Soldiers and motorcycle riders use them.

I bet you that's what it is. I hear Levi got the time trial version...and Mayo got the all inclusive deluxe version.

Every five minutes it plays a recording of Lance saying "you're nothing without me. you're nothing without me. you're nothing without me"

It's not working. You'd figure a Borg could wax people....I mean, look how Bjorn Borg used to wipe up the tennis courts with competitors...
Being a Borg ain't what is used to be....we humans are catching up!
:D
And about the Borg R&D...that steering tube deal at Paris/Roubaix...
