Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - Trek 7300
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Does anybody know what the longest trip on a Trek 7300 or a bike like it ? Thanks George

Does anybody know what the longest trip on a Trek 7300 or a bike like it ? I am pretty sure that people have toured cross country on a Trek 7300. I also had a roommate who took one on tour of Ireland a few years ago. And I have personally ridden its predecessor (the Trek 730) on the 360 mile Boston - New York AIDSride and also put it through its fair share of centuries for multiple sclerosis fundraising.
I wouldn't take it randonneuring due to time constraints, but for casual century riding and leisurely touring, I think it's a suitable machine. Was more suitalbe before Trek got silly and put a suspension fork on it, but what can one do?
Thanks for the reponse. I'm almost 66 and I don't know if I'll ever do any real long distance riding but it's good to know that I can. George

The hybrids are very comfortable bikes and when you're talking about long distance, comfort tends to become just as important as speed and weight. You're more likely to throw in the towel because your back is aching or your knee is tweaking than because it took you 10 hours to cover a 100 miles.
