Whats up? I just got myself a Specialized Hardrock Sport DISC (http://specialized.com/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=12277&bikeTab=techspec) a few weeks ago and i love it. Since i just got it, i've only been riding streets but im definitely doing trails later on. It rides great but the RD (SRAM SX-4, 8-speed, mid cage) is super noisy when i take jumps. And by jumps i mean city stuff like steps, ramps, curbs. It sounds like the chain is coming off. Ive heard that alot people have the same problem.

What should i do? Get another SRAM like the SX-5 or better... or do you guys have a better DR that i should look at?

Thanks

Get a chain stay guard like Lizard Skins. That quieted my annoying noise down considerably.

What cierrecart said.

You're hearing 'chain slap', when the chain tension changes it hits the frame. To get rid of it - get a chainstay protector.

some hockey tape works well for me.
