I feel we're good enough friends that I can speak openly. I trust all of your judgement and respect your opinions. Mabey someone else here will have the same feelings as I have and can benefit from my experience. Judge me if you want, but I'm still be that Greg guy on the Forums.

On December 17th, 2002, I layed down for another man. Well, to be honest, there were two men involved before it was over.

It wasn't as weird as I thought it would be. I don't feel any remorse, guilt or self consciousness, all of which I thought would be huge.

Truthfully, it wasn't as hot and heavy as I'd imagined and it turned out to be quite clinical. Mabey it was just my familarity with the way things work down there.

I haven't really discussed it in deep detail with my wife since the act. She's open to me trying stuff, and had given me the green light, but I feel she knows it was a real turning point in our relationship.

The only problem is that I haven't been able to ride my bike for over a couple weeks as I've been experiencing a little discomfort and a little swelling from all the roughness. Mabey I caught something?

My name is Greg, and I had a vasectomy on 12/17/02 .

hahahaha

Now on a serious note, how was the recovery time for the vasectomy? I have not had one, and don't plan on it for quite a few years, but am curious how bad it is.

I had mine a couple of years ago, I wouldn't recommend it to any male, its not the same, better ask your wife or girlfriend to have a ligation, beleive me its not the same, it is as if your shooting "blanks" :D :D, if I can go back iwould not have done it

Good for you--and for this overpopulated planet--sir! I was riding again after about two weeks. Funny vasectomy story from another cyclist: Cyclist is a racer and a dealer rep, his head is constantly full of cycling stuff. His doc, who performed the operation in the office with cyclist under local anasthesia, is likewise. Doc kept talking about his new Eddy Merckx all through the surgery. Cyclist kept biting his lip to keep from correcting doc's pronounciation of "Merckx" which changed with each uttering of the name. Said later he figured he didn't want to correct the speech of somebody with his hands operating on delicate eqiuipment.

Hey numbnutz! Welcome to the club! ;)
But seriously, it's a big emotional deal for guys, even if the effect is visible only under a microscope.
Best hopes for a fast recovery.
BTW, I actually rode home on my motorcycle after gettin' cut!

Two weeks off the bike? Sheesh!

I rode home after I had mine done. :p

Just kidding. Actually I was off the bike for more than 2 weeks, but I had a couple of other procedures done at the same time. Heal up quick, Greg.

I had a vasectomy last April and I was mostly over it in 2 weeks. I still had occassional twitches of pain for about 3 months afterwards. After the three months, I don't feel any pain and you can't even see where the incisions were made.

I think that it is the best thing that I have ever had done. I can now go out and pick up girls and not have to worry about them getting pregnant. Granted, I can still get a disease, which I still use protection, but pregnancy worried me more than anything.

I say, if you don't want kids, or don't want anymore kids, then definitely get it done!

Hahah.... I remember there was a whole series of letters on cycling news about recovery from vasectomy. My attitude is, geez guys, lance armstrong got back on a bike, so will you!

Now as for hernias....

Greg, I respect you highly. I wouldn't have had the courage to make the bold choice you did, in fact, I'm sure of it! I just don't see myself making the transition very well.

The only thing I need you to explain to me is: what was the point of the vasectomy?

Ooooh, Greg! I will gladly give you some TLC (Trollie Loving Care).

Just don't ask me to kiss your boo-boo! I don't know you well enough for that!

Wait, you guys didn't think that I would.......Listen you SOB's come over here and think that and we'll go for a nice bike ride before I wipe the front yard with ya! I just don't bend that way. Not that there's anything wrong with that.:)

I was laughing so hard writing that I actually got the date of the proceedure wrong. It took place on 1/17/03. So it's three weeks today.

I didn't want to post until I recovered and last Wednesday afternoon I had the chance to take a quick 20 mile ride. Man, it felt good to pedal again. My butt felt like it had been away from my saddle but the nads didn't even mind.

The day after the operation, I started to completely disassemble my road bike for fear I'd be tempted to climb on too soon. The bike has never been cleaner and better lubed.

They offered me the length and girth package also but I backed out at the last moment.

I had mine on a Friday at 4:00 PM.
Drove five hours Saturday morning, coached a soccer game, drove home.

Went to work Monday.

Rode 40 miles the following Saturday.

Choose your doctor well.Go with one who has been doing the procedure for years and is using the latest technique.

The worst part about the whole thing is, the really good looking blonde nurse who holds your member up (out of the way) while the DR. snip snips. Or maybe that's the best part.

Actually, Trollsville is a magical land of enchantment where happy creatures dwell. You get there by wishing, so it isn't too far from anywhere!

Come ride nekkid with me sometime, Cycletourist, and we'll see which one of us is really a man. ;)

And now, feel free to return to your discussion of Greg's vasectomy.
