This thread is for people who love speed. Cars, bikes, boats, motorcycles... whatever you got that moves you... post a pic here!
Here are mine! I'll start it off.
My 2005 Sti : 370HP, 400lb Torque. 0-60 in under 5 seconds.
My Bike : Under 1HP, 0-60... maybe down a mountainside, with a wind.

Ah a fellow missourian. I don't have a good bike so I can't post pictures of it. Its just a modified mountain bike.

I own a Sunfire... I guess I lose :D (In my defense, it's going bye bye soon!)
Anyways, I like the Z more simply because they're sex. However, I still admire the Sti for its beastliness ;)
ranger5oh
07-14-06, 10:32 PM
Yeah, I always said the Z was a sexier car. BUT, I can now transport 4 adults and luggage, and 2 bikes. My Z couldnt even handle half of that. Not to mention the Z had a million problems, but thats what I get for buying a first model year car like that. The Sti is more fun to drive, its faster, and it is bulletproof. However, it is kinda ugly... but you grow to love them :) I appreciate it for its muscle, not its beauty.

For a while I was considering on an 06 Impreza myself... I know what you mean about the 'grow on you' thing. In the end I decided it was too small for my needs, which sucks... because they are fun :)
ranger5oh
07-14-06, 10:51 PM
Yep, its definitley a tiny car. The suspension is stiff as hell too... if you gotta pee, you wont make it very far!
I'm too stupid for that STi, not interested in a Z. I'd love to get something like that, but I know what I would do. I don't need a crotch rocket either. I'd be dead, in jail, or covered in tickets.

Youd be surprised.. I think people with slow cars tend to push theirs more. When your car is fast, you respect it more and drive more sanely. Just an observation.

This is my raison d'etre (http://homepage.mac.com/sakura2004/PhotoAlbum7.html). Speed is relative. These boats are in their element a couple miles offshore on a downwind run, with a 20kt breeze and big seas. Its exhilarating to launch off a big swell, accelerating down its face while paddling on the edge of control because the boat is moving so fast, while at the same time manuvering to overtake the next swell in front and launching off that one, etc., etc., etc. In a matter of seconds you can literally gain a 50 yd. advantage on a competitor who missed the initial swell. This one will be replaced later this year with a new ski 2'-6" longer (21'-6"), with a faster and more advanced hull. Of course faster means more unstable, or tippy. The way these boats move through the water is sublime. Both are vacuum-bagged carbon fiber.

Absolutely. Police watch hot cars more expecting them to have more violations. Red car too. And little pickups. My cousin Brooksie was getting tickets when he was going 5 MPH under the sleed limit. Goofball had flames painted on the car, fat rear tires, and a de-tuned engine to make it rumble. That his dad was a major competitor with the downtown merchants was not relavant  .

That Litespeed is gorgeous!
Seems to me the idiots who are hauling ass around town and weaving through rush hour traffic are the "ricers" with their civics and their extensive modifications (read neons and a muffler).

i've been a Human Powered pursuit person for a long time, but i threw in one gas aided thrill ride, just to show i mix it up a little bit....( I am a total speed demon, used to be a luger, and trained and lived in Lake Placid at the Olympic Training Center the winter of 1984, but no good pictures of that laying around :( )
....the fastest 15 kilogram road bike in town...... 5,000 more vertical feet to go, on the fourth of July 2006..... and bodyboarding Lake Superior (closed out inshore photo, sorry!) a chilly October, decades ago....
hanging out of the bottom hatch of a Chinook twin rotor chopper, mountain rescue exercises, Mount Rainier, 2001...... my sea kayak approaching great arch still hanging with ice, Lake Superior, early 90's....and my bike-n-ski combo, good for 40 miles per hour downhill with nary a shimmy, June of this year (I couldn't get it rolling any faster but i was trying my darndest!)
The bike has a low powered electric motor running through the derailier, combined with my legs (you have to pedal with the motor, and the very low height of the bike (the seat only comes up to my knee) it cruises at 40 kph on the flat and will easily hold a sprint into the 50kph's, really upsets roadies.
The velomobile is human powered only, it is fast on the flats and bloody fast on any kind of slope, and the wind from any angle except bang on the nose makes it faster, and on the nose is barely noticeable.
The slightest shallow slope will allow speeds in excess of 60 kph and hills are a case of how fast do you want to go.

Yeah like Fast and Furious. One time these little wannabes tried to race me in the Trans Am. Of course at the end, I asked them if they were furious because I was fast! But the joke would have been more effective if they could just speak English..........

its the opposite with me, lots of chumps egg me on at intersections thinking im going to race, then i laugh knowing i just have a pissy 1.7l that my dog could out-accelerate. Maybe i shoudl strap some neons and a muffler to him!
What's an "Sti"? And does your bike have a small engine or motor mounted on it to produce the "under 1HP"?
Id love to try one of those "velomobiles".. thing looks awesome. How much does that thing weigh?
About 20 kgs, would be do able at around 16 kg with the right trike as a starting point, the shell and frame are about 3 kgs

An Sti is a Subaru WRX STi model. Its 300HP, 300lb/ft stock with driver controllable all wheel drive. Its a 4cyl turbo. Ive done some modifications to it to get it up to 400lb/ft and 370hp. Its a fast little beast.
lol.. the bike.. no motor... I was commenting on ME being under 1HP. However, there are probably some people on this forum that can produce 1HP if pushed.

I heard Neon lights add like 20HP and will lower your 0-60 time to under 4 seconds.
not mine, but the fastest thing i've driven lately:

LOL!!! Thanks (I think). That closet is a pain in the neck. Those doors need to be replaced. Everytime I open them they fall off of their sliders. I just moved in here a couple of months ago and they are not on the priority list....right now here in New Jersey airconditioning sure is though.
Cheers, Brian....PS: I love the bike too:D

I dunno.. I kind of like the interior.. it's pretty retro, which is what attracted me to it.
They only made 500 of the Subarus in yellow and 250 of them went to Canada. They're kind of rare. I used to live in Dallas and Subarus were common there. Here in NC, you rarely see them.
