Anybody here too scared, stubborn, nervous or afraid to make a first move? How has this affected your life?

A lot of times you waste more time worrying and procrastinating about doing something than it would actually take to do it...

I don't think there is a confidence problem, I think Siu has something to prove...or a challenge to over come....

I've made first moves and not made them. Who knows how my life would have changed had I made certain moves on some that could have taken me to entirely new paths. I like where I am now and "do I wish there were more" of course I do, I think everyone does. I take those risk now because I have learned over the years that a path untried ends up becoming a regret. Now I don't throw all caution to the wind and fly in all directions, calculated risk are good. As far as being too scared or stubborn, I believe I have passed that part of my life. Being nervous about first moves......all the time. Some of these keep me up late at night and make me wonder what the hell I'm doing, but again I have seen how "not acting" can change your life, its time to find out if acting can change it too....for the better.....

Nothing to prove, no challenges to overcome. This thread was directed to those who may question it themselves. ;)

I used to be really shy, but not anymore. I can be stubborn though, maybe that would stop me from going after something.

only time I really get nervous is introducing myself....for some reason the entire process of walking up to a person and staring a conversation just feels awkward.

I guess that's my inner nerd screwing things up again.

Never had the opportunity, except in chess in which I lost and beer drinkin' in which I always win.

Helen Keller said, "LIfe is a daring adventure--or nothing."

Sometimes I'm good at living by these words. Sometimes not so good. But I believe they are very true.

Everyone has something they wish they did differently. For me, that is way in the past. I've done some things I regret, but as far as not making the first move, that is not on my regretted list.

I tend to be pretty upfront and straight forward. Though I wasn't always that way. I feel like since I've been an adult...I've been pretty good at taking the leap or taking the chance and that's how I still do things today.

Not really. I "generally" don't care. My perspective on what is actual risk vs what might hurt for the time being has changed a lot. When I was a kid, I was a scared dork who thought I couldn't do anything. Between football, mountain biking, bodybuilding and a couple of AWESOME ex gf's (not to mention the bestest recent one) my personality has evolved.Even when I was single, if it worked, it worked, if it didn't...eh...keep moving on, it wasn't meant to be.

It made me not make a mistake that would have led to me not marrying my kindergarten sweetheart. No hesitation when she came back into my life.

When the ball's in my court, I just take it to the hole and either shoot, dump it off or try to draw the foul. Know what I mean?

I think you have some sort of "curiousity complex" or something. Jeez, so many questions!;)

I identify with Mothra's post the in this thread. I agonize over some things(especially beginning relationships) even though I know it's not that big a deal and when I do act, things go much more smoothly than I thought they would. I just worry too much about the front end and have trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel sometimes. As for how it's affected my life, I kick myself for not doing things now and then, but I keep on movin' forward. Gotta keep movin'.:)
