General Cycling Discussion - wife is going to be in dallas, texas.

toward the end of the month my wife will be in dallas, texas for 10 days.

her company is sending here there to a plant. she'll be there over a weekend, part of which she will have some time off. i asked her to bring me back a souvenier,(sp), or something from a bike shop there. like a bike shop jersey, etc. and i'm sure she'll also do some shopping for herself as well.

anyone know of any good lbs's in the dallas area where she can go shop at? any of them cater to recumbents only? or at least sell recumbents as part of their line of bikes? please provide links if the shops have web sites.

Richardson Bike Mart in Richardson (suburb of Dallas) one of the largest bike stores in the US. They have every type of bike.

Absolutely agree on Richardson Bike Mart.
Aside from a huge selection, knowledgable staff and
excellent wrenches (get the idea I like this place?).
She can go in, talk to the owner (Jim Hoyt) who personally
started Lance on his way. Lots of Lance memoriablia there,
including the only autographed Lance Armstrong coke
machine I have ever seen.

I went to that store last summer on my trip to Dallas. It was a very nice store. Wide selection and everyone who I chatted with there was very nice!

RBM is not only a great bike shop with a bunch of good history, good products and a great staff, your wife can call ahead and arrange to have a rental bike set up for her to do the 9 a.m. ride that goes out from the shop every Saturday morning, weather permitting (or not, depending on how hard-core she is). The hammers generally head north for about 50-60 and the more casual head east for up to 40 miles. Ride east will include all levels. RBM is one of the few bike shops I have visited which accepts trade-ins and sells used bikes. They generally have a good selection of used higher-end bikes that folks have traded-in and their rental fleet is quite nice, as well. From central Dallas go north on Central Expwy to Campbell. West on Campbell to Independence. In in the strip-mall on the SE corner.

More props to RBM! There is a small shop down the road that has been in business longer than I have that does my wrenching when needed though.

Whats with the KK thing? the classic Rendezvous list
