Wow! Those are some great pictures, I'm really glad I had the opportunity to look at that. I often forget the rich history bicycling has and get too caught up in trying to have all the best stuff. Sometimes there's nothing better than jumping on an old bike that "just works" and going for a leisurely stroll.

Thanks.

Great pics, photogenic place.

My college age daughter spent six months last fall in Ferrara. Ferrara, is a great old city just up the road from Bologna and has even more bikes per capita because the entire city centre is non-vehicular. For 60 Euros she bought one of the black single speeds like the ones you posted.

Interesting, for a city that depends on bicycles so much, Ferrarans treat theirs the worst. I swear, you travel to Ravenna or Bologna, the average bikes in those places were better than the best in Ferrara. I don't get it, really.

Anyway, I fell in love with Emilia-Romagna and want to go back. I would love to go on an informal bike tour that caught some of the Giro.

Thanks for the posts.

This photo essay is powerful enough to kick down the plastic pedestals of the unenlightened.
