Anyone out there know if there are any BMX hubs (or other hubs with 110mm spacing) that are compatable with disk brakes?

I like how this is a universal answer, you can post this in any thread and if the person used it, they could probly get the answer as to what they were looking for.

We should all just post this on threads that are reptitive.

If its repetative, please provide the link for the thread that discusses it. I've tried searching for a similar thread and nothing turns up..perhaps I'm using the wrong combination of keywords. But it would be more helpful if you provided the link for the specific thread rather than a link to the search feature, which everyone already knows about!

You obviously didn't look very hard.

And, by the way, as I've said in most of those threads already: disc brakes on BMX bikes are completely unnecessary.

mihlbach,

i have probably looked into disc brakes on bmx bikes more seriously and extensively than most anyone else on this site ever has. i mean i scoured the internet. i have taken a lot of flak from people on various forums in my quest.

i even pissed off the people at profile by prematurely ordering a disc bmx hub and then returning it :D oh well, to be honest i was not happy with the quality of the holes in the hub flanges...so whatever.

here are some of the things i found out if it helps you:

www.standardbyke.com will do a custom frame for you. (i was going to go this route but the quoted price was too high and have since changed my mind)

staats was promising as well, but i never pursued them any further...only standardbyke. none of the other companies were receptive.

http://www.atomlab.com/ go to bmx > webstore > disk adapters. i never actually discussed these parts with them because they were hard to get ahold of on the phone.

http://www.trueprecision.net/shopping/enter.html i would go with this hub over profile. the guy at this place is awesome. top notch customer service. however, he owns a machine shop. this is merely a side job / hobby for him. therefore, you would have to call or email him regarding availability. if you do not like the quick change cog set-up that is pictured, you should be able to get a one-piece driver. that is how i got mine in the street version with 11 teeth i believe.

in the end, i decided to order a standard byke 250S with v-brakes. i can't stand rim brakes, but if i have to have them, i prefer v-brakes. that is where i stand now. i have all my parts, just waiting for my frame.

standard bykes appears to be a great company. i am not "in the loop", nor will i ever be. i just want to have fun on a bike. however, i can tell you that standard bykes are welded at one of the finest frame building facilities in the country. whether or not people have a problem with their frame material is another question...and as already stated, i doubt they have their best frame builders doing the bmx'ers. regardless, it is still comforting to know where it is coming from.

i think in the near future i will build up a 24" specific frame that is disc specific. there are many out there. this will satisfy my desire to have a "small" wheeled disc bicycle.

i sincerely hope this helps you out. if you have any more specific questions let me know.

you should be able to get one similar to the ones on odyssey for example. what do they call them? micro drive or whatever where the cog is integrated.

One-piece driver, as opposed to a driver and cog with a lockring.

Gee really? Thanks for your wisdom. Who says I wanted it for a BMX bike? Its for a 110mm spaced SS mtb frame. I'm going to bolt a cog onto it for a fixed gear.

Hey...I'm just giving bad attitute in return for yours. At any rate, I wasn't asking advice about what brakes to use. There was no need to post it.
