I didn't have time to read the whole thread, but my two votes go to The Band, The Weight, and Lifes Been Good To Me, Joe Walsh.

Where does Icehouse fit it? I love their song Great Southern Land cuz it reminds me of when I went down to Sydney to party with some buds and do a couple of regattas.

Actually, it was Derrick and the Dominos, and that whole album was powered by Duane Allman.

Well, I do have to admit that I love the intro to Hot For Teacher. Dig the first couple albums, too. Not a Van Hagar fan, tho.

I love VH too. Right up 'till they gave Diamond Dave the boot. 1st album is still the best. Atomic Punk is my favorite song on the album. Great driving tune.

I remember the first time I played Hot for Teacher in the car with my dad driving and those opening tom-toms made my almost pull over because he thought we had a flat tire.

You all forget the best one ever written. Its the kind a song you want played at your funeral

Salty Dog - Procol Harum

also, eventhough its a bit cliched now becuase of its overuse in movies and tv shows, Whiter Shade of Pale, also by Procol Harum.

Not really a classic, but as long as im on a Procol kick, Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs is one of my all time favorites too.

Van Halen was way better with Roth, and my favourite classic rock song would have to be "The Boys Are Back In Town" by Thin Lizzy and "fly by night" by rush.

don't have one. don't have a favorite band, favorite album, favorite color, favorite food, etc.

it all changes with mood.

when pinned down, i consistently pick "you can't always get what you want" by the stones as the greatest song of all time.
