Sorry, slight slip of the finger. Although, inadvertantly a nice gimmick. Surprised no one has tried it yet. I sure it would fair better than Dread Zeppelin. :D

Stairway to Heaven.I agree. The song has been much maligned because it spent so much time on every "greatest rock songs list" published. However, IMHO, it is the greatest rock song ever recorded. I particularly love the live version.

But, but but... all I hear is but. What is this an ass factory ?!?!

Zep, while a excellent band comprized of benchmark musicians, vocalists and lyricist, IMHO suffers an unfortunate demise due to over exposure. SWTH is probably one of the all time greatest rock songs ever laid down on tape, sadly our wonderful AOR commercial FM radio stations have played the life out of the song. How long can a song be played 5 to 9 times a day during peak listening hours and still retain favor? I've heard that masterpiece served up so many times in the 35 years since it's release that I get physically ill when I hear it today.

U2? To quote Frank Zappa "Eddie are you kidding?" Excuse me while I hurl. "Uno, Dos, Tres, Catorce" WTF?

OB, OS, OB... Yeah, George Thorogood rocks and he's a local boy to boot :)

Led Zepp I & II were the best. Most people pick songs off Led Zepp IV because it has the most radio play.

SWTH has backward masking?

Oh here's to my sweet Satan.
The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan.
He'll give those with him 666.
There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan.

No, the question posed by Op was not BESt, but rather FAVORITE. Tho' while quite possibly being the best, SWTH is not my favorite classic rock song.

It's where they make asses, stoopid

You are right. Favorite is the point. And SWTH is probably my favorite, although today I will most likely hear something on the radio and tippy tap my foot to that.

"Every Picture Tells A Story" by Rod Stewart is another one.

It sounds like an extension of his stuff with Faces from the early 70's. Every time I hear it's like rediscovering how much fun those ugly guys from Britain could have if the learned how to rock. Faces were such great band. Rod's such a lame-o now.

Favorite line from the song... "My body stunk, but I kept my funk!"
