Okay, all you Long Distance folks, do you use chamois creme, and what's been your experience with it?

I've used Chamois Butt'r, but it seems to me to soak into either the cycling shorts pad or my, ahem, nether regions, after about 30-40 miles. Do you find you have to reapply it? Or am I just not using enough?

Assos on the pad, bag balm on my bottom and other parts that may rub.
Works great.

For 20-60 miles the Assos alone works well.

I learned about this stuff when I was a runner:

Aquaphor Original Ointment (http://www.drugstore.com/qxp40445_334918_sespider/aquaphor/original_ointment.htm)
http://a1468.g.akamai.net/f/1468/580/1d/pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/40445/200.jpg

I use it to prep my chamois with very good results.

+1.

Good combo, especially for 100+ milers...

i'd never heard of the stuff until this year, now i wouldn't go 30+ miles without it. Assos has the benefit of a brilliant name, too... it's my Chamois Tenderizer of choice.

Assos has too much Oil of Wintergreen for my liking, I must have a tender tush...

forgive a stupid question regarding the assos: it gets rubbed into the pad, not into the -ahem- personal regions?

It doesn't matter which one you put the cream on, it ends up on both!
