Is it common in these higher temps (90's) and higher humidity that the body will retain abd carry more water? I'm trying to find the reason for my recent weight gain while still keeping the same diet. Thanks.

I's not my experience. I typically do an 18 mile, twice a week ride on sandy single-track here in the humid N Florida Gulf Coast and I don't show any weight gain or loss. Same for relatively long rides in the N Georgia and E Tennessee mountains when the temps are in the 90's.

Riding in heat I find water weight not to be an issue.

I believe volume of blood plasma increases by about 10% on the first day of hot weather riding, even if you are already fit. Exactly how much weight it can add I don't know.

You definitely don't sweat as efficiently in high humidity. It takes about two or three weeks to get acclimated to the heat so just keep riding. A helpful link: http://www.e-caps.com/za/ECP?PAGE=ARTICLE&ARTICLE.ID=4747
