I want to give it a try. Anybody know where I might rent one for a week?

Mostly, I've seen places that rent bents along major trails. They are pricey to rent too. Here's a suggestion, call a bent shop you'd like to do business with and see if you could try one out for an afternoon. I know that's not what you're looking for but if all else fails, go with what works.

Rapid Transit - 1900 W. North Avenue in Chicago has the best try out policy going. Check their website for latest details - Google "Rapid Transit", it's there. They will take the time to let you try several models, and after that, if you think you have found the one, they will allow you to take it home over the weekend. They will take a credit card impression for the price of the bent - if you like it and want to keep it, you just call them up, deal is done. As long as there is no damage to the bike or wear the tires down, scratch it up, etc. But check with them for latest policy. Really great people! Of course, you could drive up to Steven's Point, Wis. for the Midwest Recumbent Rally at the Hostel Shoppe. All kinds of bents and experienced riders up there for the weekend.

Good riding, tailwinds and long downhills,
