1a) well no pain per se, but it felt awkward and weak, and i mostly pushed with my non-injured foot. but no pain is a good improvement over lots of pain..

Who told you to have 4 weeks off and also how much of those four weeks off have you had? I say this because you really do not want to put stress on your ankle before it is healed, it may feel normal but it will probably be weaker than you think. What have you actually done to it?

I say this from experience, I spent a couple months on crutches after my ankle was repaired after breaking/crushing/tearing bones and ligaments. I now use an ankle brace at all times, it is noticeably weaker on the sports fild but everyday use it feels exactly the same. Just don't let yourself fall into the trap of thinking all is fine when it isnt.

I had that with my ankle as well...the bone was heeled up but all the ligaments wear stretched so it felt really weak. It could be the same thing in your case...if it is just put a tensor on and go ride some easier trails:D

I miss the Ryder thread! No idea where it went but their website is still up and running. Somehow they still think they have a case....

A Doctor told me to take 4 weeks off and wear an aircast the whole time. Wednesday 7/19 is the end of the 4 weeks. I think i did make it a bit worse though, went on a short ride yesterday and it felt fine afterwards but it swelled up again. still doesn't hurt nearly as much as it did in the first place but I'll take it as a warning to let it heal a while longer before trying riding again.

what's a tensor? its kinda sad we have lots of trails around here and last summer i didn't get to ride many of them because stuff kept coming up and this year it looks like i might be injured for much of it. i went on a ride yesterday and it seemed to make it worse, so i wanna let it heal more before going out again, but knowing me i might still go out before i should and try and do it in granny gears or something, then slip and catch myself with the injured foot and make it much much worse

Yeah if I were you I would keep it easy just like Hopper said be careful and don't think that it is going be fine and not cause any problems because it might. I know this because I tore the ligaments and chipped the bone and also caused some old scare tissue to open up and it got messed up pretty bad. Just take it slow and don't jump right back into anything major. You might want to invest some money into an ankle brace. (You may also be able to get one from your doctor for free).

Anyways just be careful think smart you know the usual. Just don't do anything stupid. if you do go riding bring a cell phone or something you might need it.
