New just means new, not better. Hence, new coke sucked and the classic was the best. And yes, you can ruin something by trying to make it better if you only have one of them and you don't measure properly. ;)

For something to be "best" there needs to be at least three of something to be compared. Or so say the grammaticists.

But see what I mean? Oreos! They were just fine, but they tinkered with them and messed them up. And "new and improved". Well, if they're improved, why was I eating the original? Why were they selling them?

Yea I remember that story. There is also the true story about a Florida man about 3 or 5 years ago who went for a penis enlargment operation and died on the operating table from some complications to the surgery. Imagine that one.

I dunno. I'm kinda glad I don't have to ride on wodden rims and solid rubber tires. I'm also glad that we have better roads which I can use to drive to the next city in 2 hours where it would have taken me all day 100 years ago. I'm sure a **** glad that if I find out that I have cancer, I have a fighting chance of getting through it alive. None of these things are exactly fixing something that was broken. We have been getting along just fine for 300+ thousand years.

I, for one, am very glad that there are people out there fixing things that aren't broken.

How much more crap do we have that we really don't need due to automation?

Dishwasher....just wash teh dishes as you make them, or at the end of the night...sheesh...no need to queue up an entire weeks worth of dishes to justify the water/electrical costs then.

Then we have other such fun devices like the electric carving knife....it's called learning to properly sharpen a knife. When I get done whetstone sharpening the straightedge knife on thanksgiving day, that thing cuts through that turkey like it was made of butter....takes me all of 20mins to get the edge right....the same knife my mom neglects to sharpen for an entire year...so I have to re-grind the edge, and then sharpen it....sharpening knives is so simple...why mess with the best?

and on a side rant....belt drive bicycles...WTF? nothing beats a C-H-A-I-N....remember that.

I think good enough will continue to be good enough. Until its not. Then I'll change the definition. Unless the definition involves a birthmark or gangrene, both of which I will avoid until at least after I finish all this reading I need to do. And right after I wash the dishes by hand, because the dishwasher is on the blink, I'll have a classic coke and Oreos. But if the dishwasher isn't really broke, it won't need to be fixed, right? So I'll be able to go ahead and marry the beautiful woman waiting for the penis enlargement surgery. No, wait! I mean.....what was I talking about?
