Anybody ever experience a salty taste/sensation on their tongue during and after riding?

It's been happening to me lately when I ride 40+miles and toss in some efforts.

I live in Phx and it's usually pushing 100 degrees even at 5am. At first I thought it was just some soduim from sweaty but it seems odd that it lasts for a long period.

thoughts?

Im gonna guess some sweat is getting on your lips, and running into your mouth. Or possibly your tongue is sweating... it must be one of the two.

Does your skin also get a crust of white dried sweat? Usually arms and shoulders. That's salt and if it goes with the taste in your mouth, then the body is losing too much sodium thru sweat. Drink more before, and during the ride, replenishing with electrolytes.
