Classic & Vintage - Where can I find a seat for a schwinn typhoon?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm sure the answer to this question is covered many times in this forum but I can't find the info I need.
We discovered in the garage a 40-year old (we think) Schwinn Typhoon that hasn't been used in many years because a seat spring is broken and it is uncomforatble to ride.
Where do I find a supplier for a new seat? Or any clues if the seat can be repaired?
With the doctors telling me to get more exercise and with the price of gas I want to start using the bike again.
Thanks.

A normal saddle should fit. If your not sure, take it to your local bike shop to make sure another saddle will fit.

What color? Proper (for the '60s machines), dual-color Schwinn "S" saddles should be available on eBay.

Post pictures of your broken one.
Thanks for the help. With the advice given I should be able to find a seat.
More info: The Typhoon is NOT 40yeras old. I believe from the serial number AT D-204182 that it was made in 1982. Here a picture.

I'd say looking at the chain guard that it probably is 40 years old. The numbers that people are finding to date the schwinns just doesnt seem right.
The seat post clamping aera on top i think is 5/8ths or 13/16ths. You will need to make sure that you have the right clamp if you go for something other than schwinn. Modern clamps are much larger. Seems to me some lowriders use that size and if not one of those online shops "Bike Parts Usa" probably has the proper clamp.

She's a '60s Typhoon. You need a black/white saddle.
Get some Meguiars Scratch-X to polish out the paint on it. Careful around the decals, they might rub right off - and if so, get some replacement Schwinn decals before polishing them off.

Thanks for confirming what the family always thought: that it was a 60's bike, but the numbers stamped on the "handbar post" -- AT D-204182 -- seems to indicate it was built in the 80's.
Perheps it's a hybrid? This bike has a story. In 1982 a new bike was taken from our front porch and this black Schwinn Typhoon was left by the theft. At the time the bike looked 10-20 years old; that's why we thought it was a 60's bike.
There are no serial numbers stamped anywhere on the frame. The only numbers are those mentioned above.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Check the rear axle slots (aka "Dropouts" for the serial number, or below the cranks on the bottom bracket. Should be somewhere around those areas. Look close with a flashlight.
The handlebar stem numbers won't help you much.

It looks like a '60s era Typhoon. It would probably have the two-tone saddle. You might have to move the fender braces to see the serial number on the left rear axle hanger (dropout) of the frame.
