Howdy to all. No, not that EMerckx..... actually not my real name at all, but I couldn't use my real name in registration so...... anyway, my friends call me Jim. I wished they would call me "Slim" but that's another story!

I am getting back into riding after a long lapse due to injury. 20 years ago I was an up and coming age group triathlete, but plantar fasciitis that proved to be very persistent eventually forced me to give it up. Now, that seems to be in remission and I am in the process of refurbishing my beloved Eddy Merckx bike that I have owned for 15 years or more, and even started jogging slowly again, nearly 100 lbs heavier and 20 years older. The bike came with a mix of Campy and Shimano stuff, and when I am done it will be all Campy Super Record as befits a frame of its heritage.

A lot has changed since I was last into cycling, and a lot of what hasn't changed is different than I remember. So, I hope to find answers to some of the mysteries of cycling here and share what I know....

Welcome to the forum. I love Coronado, my family and I go there every fourth of July. Sound like a nice ride, I dig Eddy's bikes.

It seems like everyone is here for the 4th! It is a very pleasant place. Before I moved over here, we used to come over early, run the Coronado Half, then go to a friend's house for brunch and the Parade then hit the Rough Water Swim.

The bike was a joy to ride. I haven't ridden it since 1994 in my wife's village in France, but I am working on getting it refurbished to all Super Record. I will have a long time to get back my legs and rear end, etc. and hopefully it will be a joy once more.
