Enhanced coverage = really bad!

I've been watching the live coverage Tivo'ed every evening but it always ends before the podium and final commentary. I switched on the 8 PM "enhanced coverage" show just now to catch the end of it and it's horrible. Bob and Al sound like they're announcing over a bad phone connection and don't even seem to be paying attention half the time. It's the most unprofessional sports announcing I've ever witnessed.

Phil and Paul may not be able to get anyone's name right half the time but at least they sound like they generally know what they're talking about... :-)

I actually heard Bob Roll say "God D@MN" on the air when the AG2R rider went down, I still like those guys.

HAHAHAHAAA, Yeah we head that too.. After watching the live coverage this morning, with Phil and Paul, this commentary was so so so so bad...

I think someone tuning in tonight for the first time after hearing what happened in todays stage, would be pretty dissapointed.

It sounded like they didn't realize their mics were on. That was weird. And Trautwiq almost sounded giddy like a squeeling little girl.

The morning live coverage is way better than the "enhanced" version IMO. Just sucks having to get up at 5:30 am to watch. But I can see it before going off to work...a little late.

lol! I just listened to that and came on BF to see if anyone else had noticed it. It seemed like they broke for commercial, but the commercial never came! :lol:

It's ungodly bad!!! I watch both the morning coverage and the evening coverage and the contrast between the quality in commentating is shocking. Paul and Phil accentuate the excitement, but Bob and Stupid turned one of the most exciting stages of the tour into one of the most boring. They sound bored! I have a suspicion that the stupid dude next to Bob Roll doesn't even like cycling!

Those two morons didn't even know that they were on the air!!!! Thats why they stopped talking, you could hear them breathing, and instead of commentating on the crash he just says "God Damn!"

Please OLN just let Paul and Phil do the commentating!!!

I found the morning coverage to be much better. Not due to commentary but it was cut up really wierd. The GD was pretty funny. I thought the same thing the first time I saw it.

Yes. All four do sort of a pre-race show. But the race coverage is almost all Phil and Paul. Maybe a few breaks for quick tech info segments...And the first airing in the morning is the most complete coverage. Its usually at least 3 plus hours depending on how long the stage runs. In the mountains its closer to 4 hours of coverage.

I would highly recommend that you record the AM show if you can. It's a little late at this point I guess. All the action will be Saturday anyway.

So was tonight's commentary the usual for the evening coverage??? It's hard to believe really!

the best part about the enhanced coverage today was the commercial for tomorrows stage with Floyd stage win fist pump in it.

the morning coverage is better because they go soooo long in the end without a commercial break. I think the whole last climb was televised this morning.

the evening show is unwatchable... or i should say, unlisten-to-able...

bob roll's race commentary is rambling, muddled, and confused to my ear... he can't seem to carry a thought all the way through to a point.... i suspect his reputation for being a 'gonzo big-drinking wild man' has had some unfortunate side-effects on his ability to think clearly and communicate effectively (assuming he ever could in the first place...)

whereas i could listen to sherwen and liggett all day..... like ulmer said, they may misplace the facts, but at least they are articulate, sharp-witted, etc.
