So, I started a diet. Nothing fancy, just eating smaller portions, basically. Cut back on the fat and sugar quite a bit, upped the water intake. Shooting for about 1500 calories a day right now. I feel pretty good, tho I was hungry as hell and really tired the first couple days. Low blood sugar? I'm trying to lose some fat so I can actually see more evidence of my muscles. Hopefully, this will be a long-term solution to my aging and occasional lack of exercise. What do you guys think? Good idea, bad idea? I figure I'll have to bump the intake up as I get more active again, but I don't wanna screw myself up(or pay a nutritionist/trainer).
I'm assuming it's the diet, but I've had some weird, really vivid dreams the past few days. Can't remember anything about them(I forget shortly after I wake up). I do know that they were weird and almost like I had a part in a movie in my head. I think Baron Munchhausen might have been in one, too, for some reason....
Oh, and has anybody looked at how many damn calories are in peanut butter? Holy poo, Batman! It's no wonder I got flabby eating that wonderful, peanutty goodness every day.:( I still eat it, just in moderation...which is a good thing.;)
I dont think insaturated fat is bad or anything. For burning calories you must exercise at least 30 min. like 4-5 days a week. None of that 3 times a week for 20 min thing. I drink flax seed everymorning. I hear its good in helping keeping weight off. I dont know, Im now a certied nurtitionist like Koffee:D
Peanut butter is good for you, and it's high in protien too.
As for the crap... MORE FIBER! ;)

Water, Soy Protein and exercise. I lost 27 pounds that way about 3 years ago. Kept nearly all of it off too. If you don't change your habits in the process, you'll just gain it all back. i.e. if you think of it as a diet, that you can ditch once you've met your goal, you are much more likely to fail in the long run, than if you make sustainable changes to habits.

Exercise. Burn off 1,000 calories just from exercising and w/ an intake of only 1,500 calories, you should have a deficit at the end of the day. Obviously, you can't run like that forever, but a 500 calorie deficit is what you should shoot for. Get a HRM that calculates calories so you can keep track of what you're losing doing various activities.

Eat more raw fruits and vegetables. It will give you more fiber and energy. :D

Dreams are pretty weird creatures. I have a recurring nightmare right now that's been annoying me for some time.
Same dream premise and people every time, but the events keep changing slightly...it's like my brain is using the dream as a method to crack something. Of course this dream keeps ending really badly.
On the bright side I have no idea who the other folks in my dream are...that's the only thing that is keping it in the weird category, and not moving it to the "damn scary" category.
I use to have nightmares like 1 every one-two weeks as a child. I moved to my new home at 7 and now I never have them.

fiber (helps you feel full), whole grain anything, smaller portions, eating more often. Once you get the hang of it, it'll come off. Best of luck!
(192 this morning, 215 this time last year, 225 the year before that, 240 the year before that)

Wow Dex! Great accomplishments! It's amazing what a few simple changes in one's lifestyle can do. I had been a vegetarian for about 12 years and vegan one of those years, but I had still let my health go. I was doing it more for ethical reasons than health reasons. Around March last year, I decided that I wanted to change my life and commit myself to being as healthy as possible. I went raw and over the next 6 months dropped 70 lbs off my frame and I never felt better. I started eating cooked foods again for the winter season and I finally started getting back into raw full time recently. I have never felt more healthy, more happy or more young in my life. I also do many active things throughout the week, biking, hiking, walking, dancing. :) Now my diet is more for health reasons than ethical ones and I prefer it this way. :)
Hmmm, I don't know about this vegetarian thing, it didn't work for me as well as you. I only lost 65# in the last year and a half, from 240 down to 175lbs... I must be doing something wrong..
If you're feeling hungry, drink an ice-tea with two spoons of sugar. This will pump up your blood-sugar (but not too much), and raise your insulin and leptin levels and get rid of the hunger pangs. You're less likely to binge and do bad things to your diet. :)

The vegetarian diet didn't do it for me. There are still a lot of bad food in vegetarian and vegan diets. Its when I went on a raw fruits, vegetables and nuts diet that I began feeling very healthy. Works for me, but I don't think that most people have the will and discipline to do it. Still, the more raw foods you incorporate into your diet, the better. :) It sounds like you are doing something right to me, anyway. 65 lbs in one year is very good! :)
I hear L-Carnitine is helpful to turn fat->energy.

My problem is they have been every night for the past 3 weeks....every time I go to sleep.
I really would like to figure out what the heck it's all about....but knowing me, it's probably just my mind screwing with me.
Please stop referring to yourself in 3rd person.

I've found that nightmares or especially vivid dreams are things my subconscious wants my higher consciousness to deal with, or the process of having the dreams is how the subconscious deals with whatever issues are being played out during the 'bad' dream. It's like the subconscious is saying, "Hello! Please work this issue through!"

That's cuz your old house was built on top of an old Indian burial ground. You used to have a sister til she was sucked into the TV one night.
They're here. ;)
Must be the new batch of herb. Prolly a bit 'dusted' or something.

I lost 40 pounds by eating 15 servings of fruits and vegitables a day, running a lot and eliminating red meat from my diet. It took a few months and I've kept it off about a year so far. What worked for me is I didn't try to starve myself, I just cleaned my diet, ran a bunch and everything just fell into place. Not bad for someone who was a tubby little bastard for most of his childhood.

Almost forgot: 1500 calories not enough. Bumped it up to 1600-1800. Much better. Plus, I get to eat a little more!;) Fruit/veggie intake up, as well as lean proteins(chicken, fish, etc.). No more cokes, either.(I did have a Dr. Pepper yesterday at work as a treat, tho). Feels good to be in control on my appetite instead of the other way 'round.
